    Help Please!

I have a 622 and am doing exactly what you want to do. I run hdmi from the dvr to the tv for viewing w/o recording to dvd. I run and s-video (plus rca audio) from the dvr to my dvd recorder. My dvd recorder is hooked to the tv via component cables. This setup works great for me. One problem...

    Surround Sound??

Since you are getting sound out of the SW i would think that the signal is going through.. it could be a bad connection with the optical cable or some other such thing.

    optical cable

Well that's settled then.. the OP should have been more careful with his terms. The first response about the 2 (optical and coax) by andrewski remains valid, however, and he should not have been attacked. I, personally, like the coax better as the cables are less prone to breaking and the...

    optical cable

Umm.. the OP did say coax and as I don't have a 722 (mine is a 622) I was going to tell him that coax and optical are basically the same. It could be that the person you jumped all over came to the same conclusion. Coax audio refers to 1 cable that DOES carry digital sound not the L/R RCA...

Trying to connect two TV's to TV2

I have had success combining signals by just turning a splitter around and combining signals. When I was pre-HD I had both TV1 and TV2 on the same cable. I combined the 2 coax lines and when i tuned a tv to channel 4 i got tv1 and when i tuned to channel 62 i got tv2.. as long as you set...

    Leaving "E"

I'm sorry.. but for someone who's trying to cut back and having financial trouble forking out $200 a month on what amounts to entertainment seems a bit extravagant. I know, I shouldn't judge, but do you really need the top tier programming package? I pay dish between 40 and 50 a month and I...

    Dish announces price increase

Not to rain on anyone's parade here, but things today are generally much much cheaper than they were. Clothing is one example. New jeans and shirts used to be very expensive and now you can buy them without a second thought at places like Wal Mart. $15 in 1985 had the same purchasing power as...

    newbie home theater question.

I would think you would want to run everything audio straight to your new HT receiver and forgo connecting them to the TV. Any decent receiver will have more inputs than your tv anyway. The video should still go straight to the TV but the audio should to to the receiver. The only extra cable...

Computer dvi to component tv input

You could also use one of these. I've never tried it but I am thinking of getting one. Computer to TV video adapter converter

    Klipsch computer speaker cords

I don't see why you shouldn't be able to just get a mini headphone to RCA adapter, plug RCA cables into it and cut the RCA jacks off the other end, and then strip the wire to make your connection. That should work. And it would be cheap too.

$20 to Upgrade your iPod Touch

Exactly.. just as there is no difference between a macbook pre iLife 07 and post iLife 07. And yet, you still have to buy the apps. Apple does not give them out for free to those who bought pre-release.

$20 to Upgrade your iPod Touch

Honestly, I do not have a problem with the $20 charge for the new apps. It is the same when new versions of iLife (or even operating systems) come out. People who buy new computers get the new software and those who bought the exact same computer earlier have to buy it. As for the AppleTv...

    DVD Recorder

So as to confuse the issue even more.. digital does not always give a better picture. It is a matter of opinion as to which (component vs. HDMI) is better. I tend to prefer component but for matters of convenience use HDMI with my 622.
