    Olympic Opening Ceremony 4K

I was using the Peacock app on my Sony Bravia XBR-65X900E TV. The first 30 minutes played well. Then it started pausing for about 2-5 seconds. It got so bad that I ended up switching to the Dish broadcast which had no problems. I have Spectrum internet. I checked my download speed on my Sony TV...

    Olympic Opening Ceremony 4K

Peacock has gotten so bad pausing every 30 seconds so I have now switched over to my Dish recording. The Dish recording has no problems. So Peacock fails. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Olympic Opening Ceremony 4K

I have been watching the Olympic Opening Ceremony on Peacock since 8 PM. It is now 9:30 PM and the Peacock broadcast keeps pausing. I checked my internet download speed and I am getting 190 Mbps. So the problem is probably Peacock not being able to handle all of their customers 4K. Just another...

    Olympic Opening Ceremony 4K

NBC OTA is broadcasting the Olympic opening ceremony in 1080 HD at 2 PM and repeating it at 8 PM. Peacock is also showing the opening ceremony at 1:40 PM and 8 PM in 4K HDR 5.1 I am assuming that Peacock is not allowing Dish to broadcast the Opening Ceremony in 4K HDR. I am disappointed since...

    Big ATSC 3.0 Update

My feeling is that ATSC 1.0 is going to be around for a while. The Nextgen coalition want the FCC to sunset ATSC 1.0 broadcasts by 2028 in major markets but I don’t believe the FCC will do that. They are more likely to allow broadcasters to turn off their ATSC 1.0 simulcast at their own...

    Boost Mobile

I have been very satisfied with Dish Boost Mobile. I live in the country halfway between Plain City and Marysville Ohio (about 35 miles northwest of Columbus. I was paying over $50 per month for T-Mobile and my cell service was poor. I often had to go outside to get service. I have had Boost...

National Association of Broadcasters FCC Filing

The National Association of Broadcasters in their latest FCC filing have requested that the FCC require TV manufacturers to include ATSC 3.0 tuners with a suggested time frame of 1 year. But FCC has not agreed to that request. Plus manufacturers are concerned that they could be charged royalties...

National Association of Broadcasters FCC Filing

Consumer Technology Association opposes requirement to include ATSC 3.0 tuners in TVs. Here is a link to their response to the FCC filing. https://www.newscaststudio.com/2026/01/21/cta-urges-fcc-to-reject-atsc-3-0-tuner-mandate-in-new-filing/

National Association of Broadcasters FCC Filing

I love how they treat DRM encryption with the following sentence: Concerns have arisen over certain implementation aspects that affect reception for some viewers. In the filing they reject the view that the main networks remain unencrypted. The association opposed requirements to dedicate...

National Association of Broadcasters FCC Filing

On January 20th, which was the last day for public comments to the FCC, the National Association of Broadcasters filed their reply. They are arguing for a firm date to end ATSC 1.0 broadcasts and a requirement that tv manufacturers include ATSC 3.0 tuners in all tv sets. Below is a link to the...

    4K Events Discussion Thread

ESPN uses 4K cameras, especially for major events like the College Football Playoff (CFP) National Championship, deploying various Sony 4K-capable cameras (like the HDC-4800, HDC-P50, and F5500) for different angles. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    4K Events Discussion Thread

Comparing the Indiana Miami championship game on 540-03 (4K HDR) with the game on channel 140 (1080i). 1) The 4K broadcast is noticeably much clearer. With so much detail they may be using 4K cameras. 2) The 4K HDR picture is darker but the colors appear to be correct. 3) The 4K broadcast has...
