    R15 Release Date?

Funny story. In short, the installer came, I asked about the DVR and he said it was a "tivo". I asked about the R15 and he had no idea what I was talking about. Then he refused to install the system without a phone line present despite my objections. I had to call D* and complain only to...

    R15 Release Date?

When placing my order I referred to the DVR as a "Tivo" and the rep corrected me. She said I that D* "has technology better than the Tivo and to better serve their customers -- blah blah" and I would get the D* DVR unit. I asked about the model number of the DVR and she had to check...

    R15 Release Date?

I just ordered DTV today and the person on the other end of the phone said I'd be getting R15s instead of the DirecTivo. My install is Saturday so I guess I'll see then. Hope it doesn't suck :D

2 SD Tivo Units, HD NFLST, will it work?

I searched a few times but couldn't find a string that would give me the results I wanted. If you know of a thread please link it. I will be a new subscriber to Dish and want to get the Sunday Ticket SuperFan HD package. I do not want to purchase the HD Tivo (too much$$$) but wish to get...

Thank You letters to VOOM and Charles Dolan

Dear Mr. Dolan, Thank you for putting all the effort you and your team have into making Voom successful. I consider Voom a success even though it is ending service because it has reawakened my hopes, and the hopes of tens-of-thousands for the future of HD television. It is unfortunate for...

    Surmounting the High-Definition Divide

No one in retail is paid to know anything more than they are told in training. The few that actually care about knowing what they are selling or have an interest in the stuff outside of their work don't last long - they're too smart for sales. Prices in retail stores are too high as it is...

    HGTV - On and poppin'

    Lubbock and West Texas Voom!

Lots of wind last night and snow at the moment. My sat signal is at 67 =( Think it's a dish alignment problem or is this common with snow?

    Lubbock and West Texas Voom!

ABC was 110% better. I saw the Packers crumble in historic fashion in some mildly digital-ish broadcast. What cracks me up is that I'm on 34th and Quaker - not extremely far from the ABC/CBS tower with no tall buildings or massive trees around. There should be laws against signals this bad...

    Lubbock and West Texas Voom!

I actually called Cox today to get basic service again since last week the ABC MNF game was so horrid I couldn't even watch it. At least now it's watchable. And I still can't get a lick of CBS. :no

How to get Olympics (or any other distant feed)

Or we could vote for someone who will change the ridiculous regulations the FCC (or whoever) sets for these types of things. We, the people, are suffering a severe reduction in quality of service so that Joe Businessman at the local station can make a few more bucks. Why not pass legislation...

Why Do HD Ch's Annoy Me?

That *would* be hell! ;) I don't mind the logos so much as the moving, sound making, large and distracting ads that FX and others like to play during shows. The effects nearly drown out the dialogue. :no

    Lubbock and West Texas Voom!

I e-mailed Voom about my OTA and got a call from Max S two days later. A guy came out and setup the Wineguard on a taller pole (still attached to the dish install) and I can get everything except ABC. The box says the antenna does analog as well as digital. How do I get it hooked up to my...

NFL HD Starting Mid August or Sept 2004?

So. Where's my NFL Network in HD? Have they started the feed yet? Anyone know if Total Access will be in HD?

Picture distortion when stretching 4:3 image

I also get distortion but I am using a 4:3 HDTV. When I set the video mode to pillarbox and the TV to "Wide" besides reducing my 32" to something like a 24" I get the full picture. If I have it set to strech and TV on "Normal" I lose part of the picture to the left and right...
