No signal on satellites 99 or 103 on new install.

Make sure the H20 is set for the 5-LNB dish, and not the 3-LNB dish. That option should be in the setup menus somewhere.

New 5lnb are there many customers?

Optical, I live in Marietta as well, and I don't loose my HD locals unless the rain is pretty hard. It sounds like your dish is not pointed as well as it should be. Do you have any trees that could be in the way?

Fox sports south in HD ??

Well I can confirm that Fox Sports South/Turner South HD did go live for the Atlanta DMA, on channel 96. I am watching the Braves game as I type this. You do need an H20 and the 5 LNB dish. My HR10-250 will not tune channel 96.

Severely disappointed in new HDDVR's PQ

The HR10-250 does NOT re-compress the video signal before it is stored on the disk. The PQ on my HR10-250, which is now 18 months old, is very good. My new H20 may be slightly better, but not much. Are you using the HDMI connection, or component? Do you have a 720P, 1080i or 1080Pset? Make...

    99° kaku satellite-Install Problem

Do you have a multi-switch in your setup? Only the new Zinwell WB68 is designed to work with the KA sats. If you have a multi-switch, make sure it is this model. What max signal strength does your H20 show for 101, 110 and 119? You should see 70+ on at least some of the transponders on each...

    99° kaku satellite-Install Problem

indylocal, Do you see any signal on 99 or 103 on the H20 signal strength page? Do you have the b-band converter installed on the H20? It is a small white box that is in-line on the sat feed into the H20.

    HD "movers" beware

If all west coast DNS users had MPEG4 receivers, D* could convert the LA DNS channels to MPEG4, and free up enough KU bandwidth for 2 conus HD MPEG2 channels. MPEG4 is not limited to the KA sats, just MPEG4 receivers. Also, latest word on the MPEG4 DVR is September.

    HR10-250 and OTA freezes

What you are describing sounds like a dynamic multipath problem. This can be caused by things such as wind blowing nearby trees around. If you check your OTA signal strength when you start seeing dropouts/freezes, you will see a signal suddenly drop from 80+ all the way to zero, then back to...

    D* HD Transponder List - 99.2 and 102.3

Atlanta has changed for sure. HD Locals launched on TP16 sat 103, and I now have a 0 signal for that TP. Is there any way on the H20 to know what TP # a channel is tuned on? The attempt to generate a spot beam map on the spaceway birds may be difficult/impossible, since the spots can be...

    D* HD Transponder List - 99.2 and 102.3

No problem. The main reason I posted my numbers was that they are very different from what was originally posted for Atlanta. When ATL HD locals first launched (Nov 2005) TP16 sat. 103 was the only spot I got. Back then I had a peak signal strength of 94. Over time that has dropped into the...

HD-Lite - Senators Have Been Contacted

Did you happen to bother to read the ATSC standard for direct to home satellite transmition? If you did you would see both 1440x1080i and 1280x1080i listed as valid transmition formats. Last time I checked DirecTV was broadcasting via. satellite, so I would think that using the allowed...

HD-Lite - Senators Have Been Contacted

The document you are linking to is not the standard, rather the 'Guide to the use of the ATSC Digital Television Standard'. If you look up actual standard, it has a far more vague definition of HDTV, and references the document I posted above as being the part of the standard that applies for...
