If you know any kind of snow sports or board sports at all, you would know what freerider means. Evidently you just sit in front of the TV all day. The reason I know the trick was because I really wanted to cancel Dish and get DirectTV because I like the Samsung much much better than the 811...

Call them and tell them that you are thinking of going to get the other satellite HD package, ask them what Dish will do to keep you. You will still have to pay 199.99, but they will most likely waive couple months of your current programming charge.

My DP811 finally downloaded the 267, don't see or feel any difference. What do you mean by "Dish 500 ready"? I have Dish 500 and don't see how it would make any difference. Don't see that "Green wording on System info" screen either.

With the same antenna in the same location, the 811 gives me 3 more local OTA HD than my old Samsung SIRT151. However, with the Samsung, I never lost any station. With the 811, I get that dreadful 49% from time to time and have to use that view tv+info trick to get the stations.

The way it works for me: As soon as you see the 49% signal bar, hit the view tv button. Then hit the info button.... Wait couple of seconds Hit the info button again

267 download Did anyone with the DP 811 get the 267 download? I did everything I should and still no download.......

49% issue If you really have the 6000 with the same antenna at the same location before and no reception problem, your 811 should do more or less the same. If you get that 49% thing, try the trick (view tv + info + info) someone posted here somewhere, it really works.

Where are you? This is really sad, around San Francisco area cable carries all local HD including PBS. Discovery HD is nice to have, HD-Net programming is so so. On the same subject, does any know what is Dish broadcasting at, 1080i or 720p?

How sad Sad isn't it? Almost all prime time programming and sporting events are in HD, the HD package is nice to have but not as much material comparing to local. May be cable is the solution then......

While the 811 pulls in couple more stations than my old Samsung, the Samsung is by the a much, much, much more stable box.

You should try that trick that someone posted (viewtv+info+info), works like a charm if you have that 49% problem, and you only need to do it once during that session.

I watch local OTA-HD much more than SAT-HD, so unless you know you can get OTA, you should wait till they can carry all the local HD by SAT.
