Quick Facts for 622 and 222

I have a Samsung 1080 TV and a 942. To get a 622 is going to cost me $300. Am I likely to see a significant improvement in PQ with a 622? What other advantages are there in switching to the 622?

    Lease a 942 ? Existing Sub

I finally caught a call from Judd from the E* "executive offices". He said he was calling because of the nice email I sent asking for a 942 lease as an existing sub. He said E* will be making an announcement in ~2 weeks about 942's to existing subs. He couldn't say if it would be a lease...

    $700 for 942!!!

I'm kinda ticked off that as an existing customer, I'll have to buy a $942 for $700 while new customers can get them for $250. I'm going to be moving soon to a town with a different area code. I'm thinking with a new address, new phone number and my wife's name; I can become a new customer...

    Best DVR?

I've been considering the 942, but can't quite get past the idea of paying $700 which means I'm locke into E* forever. I was thinking that a leased 811 with a Tivo might be a better choice. The Tivo allows wireless networking and is compatible with anything I might try in the future. Any...

    FROM DISH: New 942 Information

I called and the CSR said that the 942 will be available from retailers. He gave the phone numbers for two in Mesa, AZ. I called, they both said they would have them in 2-3 weeks for ~$600.

How stable is the 522? Compared to 501/921, etc.

I switched from cable to E* with a 522 last September. Since then I've seen some a couple of reboots and some occasional audio to video sync misalignment. But, IMO the 522 is as stable as my cable box was, and the PQ is much better

Very bad pixellation on Dish HD channels ...

I find this thread very disconcerting. I had just decided to go sat in a new home in stead of cable. If there are such widespread PQ issues on E*HD; should I go cable?

    921 and Two cables

Is there a difference between a DPP 44 and a Dish Pro Plus 44? The Dish Pro Plus descriptions I've seen say that the Plus is for Super Dish. I have a Dish Pro 500. What is a SW 44? And, where can I get the appropriate switch and separators?

    New construction AV distribution

I am still fighting with my new home builder about installing cables to convert from cable to sat. I think I've got a solution with a quad LNB and DP44 with separators. My dilema now is AV connections. How long can optical audio, S video, component, and composite video cables be before the...

    The Big Switch

That sounds great. So, it appears that I won't have to climb around the attic dropping more RG-6 after all. Right?

    The Big Switch

This builder is starting 5-6 houses per week. They don't want to waste time with changes. Its easy for him to say no because there are more buyers than houses in Phoenix right now. Anyway, doesn't the receiver need to be close to the TV in order to use S-Video or component video? Is the DPP...

    The Big Switch

Currently I have one 522 and one 322 (quad LNB). In the new house I will need to add a HD receiver. I will probably replace the 322 with an HD receiver. Will Dish Net allow the switch? How many TVs can be connected with these receivers nad the DPP44?

    The Big Switch

Unfortunately, until closing, the house belongs to the builder. I hate the idea of paying the $500 penalty, but I want it done right. I've been told that the cable pre-wire can be used, but this will require the used of diplexers., which will probably degrade the signal. How many RG-6 cables...

    The Big Switch

I recently switched from cable to sat because of changes in sports coverage. I was amazed at the difference in picture quality of sat vs cable. I am building a new house and chose to have it pre-wired for cable. I now want to switch to sat in the new house. The builder wants to charge me a...
