For what its worth (and that is probably not the electrons that this is taking up) I called to cancel my voom service today since I just bought an hdtivo the csr said the voom dvr is due out next month...they are picking up my equipment next tuesday...but that is another story. -paddy hannon

I hope so! I am using my computer with (at various times) windows xp media center, sagetv, and snapstream. Each have their pro's and con's however they all record in SD and frankly sateliite (sd) -> mpeg -> tv looks pretty lame, and my cat keeps knocking the little ir blaster off the voom box ;)...

Thats what is keeping me around so far....channels I can't get elsewhere make (for me) a strong case for voom. But, when the fall season starts I'm going to be hard pressed to explain to my gf that we can't record the apprentice because I choose voom over D*.... paddy

Have any of you guys gotten DVI dropouts with the lastest code? Mine still seems to flicker out every once in a while on DVI but never on component. paddy

If thats the case then you should be able to use the xmltv cat functionality to merge voom listings with those of your local OTA channels. I'm doing that right now for my software based solution. Works great! Just create two xmltv configuration files, download the listings, cat them together...

I have a HDCP compliant display, and get the blackouts too. Last night it was really bad on Bravo. I have emailed Voom about this a bunch with no response. Next time it starts up I'll call em see if they have any ideas for me. Paddy

Its too bad WiRNS doesnt use XMLTV. I was able to get an XMLTV listing that cat'd (merged) my OTA and VOOM listings, works like a charm. Now if I could only capture in HD!

Just had voom installed, moved from dish...Just in time. I have a software based dvr Microsoft Media Center, it too has no Voom support. However, SnapStream does. I'm thinking about switching to that and waiting for a hd dvr from voom. paddy

I just called Voom, no 1 year contract, so I signed up. If they do not provide better service than Dish or if there are problems with the reciever I can just send it back. Also, since the install date is March 7th maybe E* will push down the 811 update and if it fixes things I can cancel the...

Their receiver probably doesn't put out a super dark SD signal, does it? lol my 811 really gets my goat. I have a DVR I built, just can't use it due to all the 811 issues. The only thing I really worry about is that Voom is so new. I guess they are backed by cablevision which is a huge company...
