OTA reception problem & backfeed possibility?

Were you watching OTA from satellite first? Then you went to OTA from the sat receiver or direct OTA? What was the signal on the receiver when it broke up?

    722 UHF remote issue

The issue is Rf and EMI interference. You can also try changing the stacking/arrangement of your equipment.

That looks good! I hope it works consistently for you.

OTA reception problem & backfeed possibility?

I agree in cases where signal is too weak. Weak signal doesn't sound like Sam's issue. His sounds like too much signal and too much noise. In Sam's case, he states: "I think before I had that pad all the stations were coming in with 100 signal strength" This suggests to me that he was...

OTA reception problem & backfeed possibility?

llzel is correct about 612 tuners being far less than special. But maybe I can shed some light on amplifiers in relation to splitters/diplexers and signal quality. An amplifier is used to compensate for line loss (as you say). The line loss that is referred to, comes from long cable runs that...

Dish Network: Poor video quality using coax cable. Dish techs at a loss!

Good call mjstraw! I missed that statement, but if everything is represented correctly as stated, I think you've nailed it. (Then there is the statement, "The primary set is a Vizio VW42LFHDTV10A 8/2008 and the secondary set (which replaced a SDTV (with same image ghosting issue)) is a Vizio...

    dish 500 lnb

I got in the habit of doing a quick visual of the dish and things outside, first, for that very same reason. We think that if the dish were falling off the roof or knocked over, the customer would have noticed and alerted us to it. Not always the case! It didn't take long to find out that...

OTA reception problem & backfeed possibility?

Sam, I am going to pose an alternate solution. Due to your proximity to the towers, I would expect that MOST indoor antennae would be quite adequate. So, why don't you put your TV that need's direct feed on an indoor antenna, or all of them for that matter. Then if you wanted to use diplexers...

OTA reception problem & backfeed possibility?

And the answer to the question is: As high as possible without overloading the receiver.

    Empirical Antenna Solutions

You're right CowboyDren! I was way wrong on this one! Grabbit Ears DO work much better outside. My problem was I was trying to use them "vertically" the way they hang inside. Using them this way is only a little better and they are somewhat directional. Then it hit me to try them flat. WOW...

OTA reception problem & backfeed possibility?

I like the nice picture! Problem 1: I would first remove the splitter between the diplexer and the 612. Run the OTA directly to the 612. I would also replace the set of diplexers that are there. Diplexors of several types will often fail within 6 to 12 months, usually on the non-powered side...

722K loosing signal in high winds

Better signal to your OTA module would solve the problem and allow you to use all the features.
