    Software update for the DVR921?

Damn, they fixed HDCP output. My prerecorded Superbowl will no longer play without a "Your display is not HDCP compatible and DVI has been disabled" error. I guess I gotta go plunk down $300 on a HDCP compatible DVI switch now.

One thing I like about the 921 upgrade

I noticed no differences between the 1.45 to 1.46 myself, everything continues to run as it did before. Did they actually fix anything? Can say much about second tuner lockups, have never seen that happen on mine.

    921 HDTV overscan differences

I think its your TV, or something wrong with the 921 you got. I got 2/2/1/3 left/right/top/bottom using the HDNet test pattern. Nearly zero overscan, I am quite happy with the 921. I use DVI-D output to a front DLP projector. Maybe the problem is component outs? -Jerry

    Recording OTA with a timer??

I have a timer to record "24" weekly over OTA with 1 min before and after. No problems here, it has not missed a show yet. -Jerry

    921 OTA PVR problems

Thats not true. Mine recorded the Superbowl without a hitch, including the "wardrobe malfunction" I had a manual timer set for 7 hours, didn't miss a second of it. It is capable of recording at least 7 hours straight. -Jerry

Blue Lines in Video on 921

Does this problem only appear on the analog component outputs? I've been using exclusively the digital DVI output and have not seen any problems with blue bars. Should I hook up the component just to check if there is a problem in need of repair? If I have to sell this receiver down the road...

    JVC "921"

My recording shows 12 mins. It caught a little of the shows before and after the test patterns. I think I had it start 1 min early and go 1 min late. There are three patterns, a color bars pattern, a grid pattern, and a resolution/overscan pattern. -Jerry

    JVC "921"

Yeah, its cool that HDNet broadcasts those test patterns, helped alot when I was pixel perfect cropping the 921's 720p output through my scaler card. I was truely amazed that I was able to read the resolution test pattern text all the way through the last line! HD2 DLP chip projectors rock...

    921 Update In Progress

Superbowl recording a success! Thank god, I was really sweating it over the weekend thinking of all the ways my 921 would crash before and during the recording, but it worked flawlessly. Recorded all my programs without babysitting for 5 days in a row. I'm starting to gain some confidence in the...

    921 Update In Progress

More news on OTA, no lockups for the last 5 days, looking promissing for Superbowl Weekend. (knocking on wood) I tried setting up a few timers to record FOX and CBS HD programs and all fired without a hitch, so now I got a timer setup for Superbowl weekend. (24 ROCKS in widescreen even though...

921 for a high end home theater ???

X-10 is extremely buggy. If you want a higher end, fullproof system for controlling lights by remote, I suggest you look at the Lutron products (http://www.lutron.com/resi)They have excellent control systems controlled by IR, RF, or network. I installed two of their cheaper Spacer line of IR...

My current list of 921 problems

Okay here is my updated list of problems now that I have the 1.45 firmware. My 720p crop problem is now fixed. A little tweaking in my video scaler setup allowed me to correct the remaining problem I had. I'm not too critical of getting #2 fixed quickly. #1 is much more important to fix fully...

921 for a high end home theater ???

I recommend the Phillips Pronto Pro. Fully programmable touchscreen in color. It's like $620. I use it to control everything in my home theater setup, including the HTPC I have. It takes a bit of up front setup, but once you done all that, it's slick and easy to use. I haven't programmed the...
