    rwalsh has told me he has purchased and watched 1080p24 VOD, I have not but I do pass the resolution test. Since I never see it do a resolution check for the beast download, I wonder if they are setting some flag after you buy a 1080p VOD and it uses it to determine what output resolution to use...

    I have the exact same tv and mine reports 1080i. downloaded the beast several times and all the episodes and it is always 1080i for me.

    yep, that is what I am thinking. I have a pioneer kuro 5020 which passes the 1080p test on 501 and I downloaded it and it played back 1080i. Never saw any resync/resolution check so think it is a bug in the VOD playback code as mentioned above.
