How did you get the 3500s to work with Amazonas

(No problem finding Amazonas at 61.0 degrees. Very strong signal on 11972 V. At first it worked fine, but now if I go to that bird I get a strong signal (if aiming) or a good picture (if viewing) for only 3-4 seconds, at which point the signal level drops way down and the quality goes to zero.
