I noticed the situation ( as described in the original post when I lived in the Monterey/Salinas DMA. KSBW did that zoom with the nbc logo cut off, however KNBC-LA did NOT do this. It looks to me like it was something the stations do. MY tv at the time had no zooms or aspect ratio controls.

I had that problem last night about that same time on my 501 (legacy equipment). I rebooted and the problem went away, but it could have been Dish fixing the problem and the reboot fix could have been a co-incident. Not sure how long the problem was present as I was out of the room part of the time.

Have you tried getting CBS-HD & others OTA since you said you could get stations OTA from 3 markets?

I have rarely had problems requiring reboots and have not had this problem. I don't have any access to OTA so this probably accounts for me not having as many problems as others who use their 811's for OTA as well as Sat channels.

We live in the Monterey/Santa Cruz DMA and currently are receiving LA Distant Nets ABC, and NBC,CBS,Fox by waiver. We also get CBS-HD from LA. My question is will we be able to get the Olympic HD feed based on our current NBC waiver or is that a separate issue?

Dish uses a stop recording command on MLBEI so that you don't record the banner screen after the game ends if it is shorter (usually) than the 4 hr block assigned in the guide.

Since I received mine in early January I have averaged about 1 reboot per month, usually when the sound disappears or it seems to freeze up and not respond to remote commands.

I have had my 811 since Mid January. So far it has worked very well, only 2 re-boots due to audio dropouts. I never get the Acquiring Satelite message. The S-video is slightly dark but not that much different than Comcast analog which we also get. So far I am Happy with mine. ;)
