Got rid of Premium channels because of crazy PPV charges

Correct. Channel 1 is transmit channel 42 - KAXT, and 1-1 is a valid OTA channel in the San Francisco Bay Area. 001-01 is the guide channel, what's on, for channels 001-02 through 001-20, and it is not present higher up or carried by Dish. TV Query Results -- Video Division (FCC) USA...

Got rid of Premium channels because of crazy PPV charges

I was doing more experiments, and it looks like a Ch 1 OTA channel in the 722 guide, maybe actually pointing to a Ch 1 VOD on both my 722s. The first picture shows that 1 - VOD is locked, but not the 001-xx OTA channels. The second picture shows that locked channels are hidden, and that...

Got rid of Premium channels because of crazy PPV charges

Yes, the VOD1 channels do stay password protected, even when they re-appear. Again, I am not sure if it is because of a 722 issue, or because we have OTA channels 001-01 through 001-16 in the guide, confusing the receiver. I say this because, when the VODs reappear, they are not in order...

Got rid of Premium channels because of crazy PPV charges

pabeader is most likely doing is right, and so am I. The VOD 1 channel does come back in the guide, whereas the other channels locked this way do stay hidden. The way to fix this is to unlock channel 1 VOD, exit the locks menu, then lock channel 1 VOD again, then again exit. This again...

Got rid of Premium channels because of crazy PPV charges

Unfortunately, the VOD 1 channel cannot be permanently eliminated from the guides. Even if you set a channel lock for VOD 1 on the 722, the VODs reappear in the guide a day or two later. Other PPV channels, as well as the adult channels do not behave this way. If you lock out any other...

Any help with a 4 orbital slot installation?

One also needs to keep in mind that the SW-64/SW-21 (SW21-4 SAT) setup may not work with all receiver models, especially the very old models. Only some (many newer) Echostar receivers have support for this config. I can confirm that all four sats do work correctly with the legacy...

Will the Lack Of a dishwire stop u from buying a 921

IMO dish needs to come out with a firewire STB to compete with the cable companies. At a minimum, they need to allow hard drive upgrades on the 921. 20-25 hours of HD recording capacity is not enough.

    Bastard on Ebay

I believe that the model 3500 was a HTS or a JVC brand receiver, and the model 3000 was the Echostar brand receiver. Both should be functionally equivalent except the brand name. So, no worry. I guess the buyer mistakenly assumed that the -02 number on the smart card was the revision. And...

    Component to composite video conversion.

I believe that a ~$10 DVI-RGB/VGA adapter, and/or a cable with the right pinouts should do the trick, as the 921 has a DVI-I port. This assumes that the 1T-PC1280HD can accept composite sync on green. Many RGBHV devices should. Or you could also try splitting the component signal. I am...

    Component to composite video conversion.

That is what I would ideally like to do as well at a reasonable cost. (<$300) I just ran across a 1T-PC1280HD converter for $395. The specifications seem to indicate that it can convert HDTV to PC resolutions. Perhaphs, this device coupled with the SmartHome PC-SVideo converter, and an...

    Component to composite video conversion.

I do not believe that this converter will work with a 1080i or 720p signal. 1080i is 1920x1080@60Hz interlaced. 720p is 1280x720@60Hz. And the converter maxes out at 1024x768@60Hz resolution. Also, 1080i and 720p formats are 16:9, whereas computer resolutions are 4:3. Now 480p can be...

    Can a 921 support all four sats - 119, 110, 61.5 and 148?

Thanks for the infomation. I guess I will pickup a legacy quad, and a couple more SW21s to be on the safe side. This way I can have the 921 get the CBSHD-East feed from 61.5, and a CBSHD-West (SF) feed OTA. And I do not loose the minor SF locals from 148 on my other two receivers as well.

    Can a 921 support all four sats - 119, 110, 61.5 and 148?

Can anyone confirm if the 921 can support the SW21-4SAT switch configration to see the 119, 110, 148 and 61.5 satellites? And if there are any issues with doing this on a 921? This would be using two outputs of a SW64 switch. Each SW64 output would be cascaded to a SW21 switch to see all...

SW 64 not working at all!!! Help

Try unplugging all the receivers, and the power inserter for a minute or so. Also, double check the switch input connections. 1a/1b should go to the 119 LNBF, 2a/2b to the 110 LNBF and 3a/3b to the 61.5/148 LNBF in that order. If the receivers still fail the switch check, and ~24V is...

w/ 921 do I have to buy a new Switch and Dish Pro

Yes. If you have a legacy twin LNBF, you will need to replace it with two legacy dual LNBFs if you plan to use an SW64. You could also replace the legacy twin with one legacy quad LNBF, and use that with an SW64. However, a legacy quad with the SW64 would cost more, and not provide any...
