GOES 16 GRB downlink vs GVAR

Great news, glad you finally got a receiver that worked out. I've been busy with work and finalizing touches on a LINUX version of the GRBStreamer, so couldn't post much... but fun days ahead for sure of more innovation.

GOES 16 GRB downlink vs GVAR

Are you able to receive RHCP or LHCP data through GRBstreamer on GOES16? Based on the info you've provided so far, you should be able to. On the bright side, you have enough dB to get you going while you work on upgrading the dish to get that higher SNR.

Yeap, sure looks like two signals, but it is not... only RHCP. The grayed out signal peaking at 70 that you see is the peak in the signal level, so anytime there's data coming in, then you'll see it maxing out at that level. I'll be giving GOES 17 a look this week. If you can get 8dB then that's...

Here's a pic of the 10dB I'm getting on the RHCP, using GQRX under Windows with an Airspy @ 10MSPS

Keeping fingers crossed that replacing the bad coax cables will not give you a better signal. Just as an alternative, I've posted below the link to a suite of SDR tools which includes a ported version of GQRX I use under LINUX. You might want to give it a shot as it could make it easier to...

Very nice, adds another level of experience to GRLevelX.

GOES 16 GRB downlink vs GVAR

Would be nice if GLM could also be distributed through HRIT, but going to doubt it (at least for this year). They don't have it in the NOAAPORT stream (at least not yet), which further causes me to decrease the changes of it happening for now. The GLM data is small so wouldn't see why it...

GOES 16 GRB downlink vs GVAR

Saw late yesterday a report that HRIT at GOES17 has started sending data.

GOES 16 GRB downlink vs GVAR

Don't exclude the minimum elevation. The 15dB they have is based on a northern most ground station in which GOES16/17 is at or close to 5 degrees from the horizon. So as you can see, the further down you travel in latitude the less the dish size gets as a minimum requirement. This is validated...

GOES 16 GRB downlink vs GVAR

An 8.5 to 9dB signal still good. I've ran under those ranges under some bad weather and I might loose about half a dB. If you point your dish to GOES17, how does it look?

Any way to DM you? I can only think of you going to the OSP chat room, if it can't be done here.

GOES 16 GRB downlink vs GVAR

Darn, only 6.2. See if you can still get it a bit past at or past 6.5 as it will at least allow you to get something specially during good weather and to test your equipment while you wait to get the 12ft later this year. LOL you almost scared me with "Almost had a disaster..." part. In regards...

GOES 16 GRB downlink vs GVAR

Hopefully I'll get some additional time this week to work some more on the LINUX app that I used to get the signal status and add streaming capabilities to send BB Frames to CSPP. Likely ensuring the BBF are synced before re-transmission will be the challenge for me. lol

Hi guys, here are the signal characteristic on the DD under LINUX at the time you have to "reset" the coax in order to get it to start reading: Status = Locked : Signal Strength(%) = 59.40 : Signal Strength(dBm) = -49.17 : SNR(dB) = 9.5 : BER = 00000000 : Uncorrectable Blocks = 0 : Read (bytes)...
