    Skyway Warning for Installers

As many of You who have delt with SkywayUSA know, they are having a few problems right now with cash flow. Word of warning, You may not get paid for installs or service anytime soon. Many dealers are reporting no pay what so ever for installs over a year ago. I know the company well & have...

Purchased a home, one cable jack, 4 satellites coming...what do I do?

Costs <p> We charge extra to pole mount superdishes ($75.00 min), I have never mounted a super dish to a house & won't accept any responsibilty for what happens if the Customer requests a house mount. Could You see what might happen to a trailer with 2X2 studs with one of those monsters on it...

Rg6 You will need RG6, if You don't have a problem now, You will sooner or later, You need as much signal/voltage as You can get. By the way, did I mention You need RG6? Let Me repeat USE RG6, Use of RG59 is NOT covered under service agreement & DBS companies will not honor any service...

Any advise for a new installer?

Installing My advice, (for what it's worth), keep track of Your miles driving, (taxes when You get the 1099), try to find a great deal on cable, (you will use a lot), and most important, keep track of Your jobs and the pay for each one, (getting shorted on pay is not uncommon). I found it...

    Dish Retailers.........Help!

Installations I can help as far as what one of the retailers pays here, We get $60 for the first box, $20 each after that for standard installs. If We give the sales lead, We get an extra $50. Super Dish add's $85 & I don't care if I do them or not because of pole mounts & concrete. Not many...

    eBay Voom Receivers

Thats what I thought, since the Voom boxes are not able to be "fixed", what use are they since Voom will not activate previous subed boxes? Maybe a boat anchor? If someone has got info on a pirate Voom, (which I doubt) let us know.

    40ft Ladder Charge?

What most people forget when it comes to roof mounts is the fact that the cable has to run to the receiver, this means running the cable thru attics, or strapping it to the side of the house, (or worse, wall fish). This makes for a time consumming install, time that could be spent on another...

    40ft Ladder Charge?

I charge extra for the 40ft also, but not $80, most of the time it's $50, (unless the customer is going to be a pain in the ass). If You think it's to much, go on your roof & mount the dish yourself, then see what it is worth. Bet you won't do it for a living or you would not be complaining in...

3 Room Into 5 Room Setup?

Going from 3 to 4 is no big deal, (assuming you have a quad feed). adding the fifth ird is where you will run into money, you will need a multi switch for that fifth receiver, doubt if Dish will give it to you for free. To keep Your expence down i would suggest four receivers, if that it...

    61.5 + 110 and 119

Your DTV dish will work for 61.5, connect the sw21 inputs to both dishes, point the DTV dish at 61.5 & run check switch. On My 811, not only did it identify the Dish Pro feed, it also found the sw21. Works great for CBS HD & Dish HD promo, (thats all I can get on 61.5).

    Sold all my Dish Stock

Funny thing about Dish, the only people I see happy with it are the ones getting it for free, alot of Subscribers I see are going to DTV, when, (& IF) Dish goes to MPEG4, I expect more people to go to DTV unless Dish does something to retain Sub's, they are going to be in trouble soon, We are...

    Sweet, Just picked up CBS-HD

I use a dish 500 & installed a 18" dish for 61.5 then connected a sw21 from one side of the Dish 500 & the other side to the 18" dish, did check switch & that was it. I use a 811 for Hi-Def, & a 311 for the bedroom, (wifes tv) :).

Early cancellation -- any pitfalls/hidden charges?

Read the small print!!!!! There will be a early termination fee, it is in the paperwork that YOU signed when You had the system installed, TRUST ME! If You have 311's it is around $199 per box, if its PVR's could be as much as $299. Consider Dish paid someone to come out & install it & supplied...

Who makes the HDTVs dish is selling?

I just got one of those Dish TV's In My opinion they are great deals, depending on how much You pay for one, I got Mine for $636, (40" rear project), although I don't have a good HDTV signal yet, the DVD's are great in progressive scan. If You don't want to spend big bucks for HDTV, they are...
