On my roku that works with the new interface, I can hold down the fast forward button and see the minutes elapsed in the show count up. So I can say watch it pass 3 minutes in a few seconds and then stop.

I guess I see it this way. They just got a long term customer to pay them an additional $10 per month and accept an upgraded service that if the customer forgets to call and reduce again will net them even more per month, all with little to no acquisition costs.

Note that regardless of the video service available from dish and that's cost. There is always the ongoing hardware costs and various fees. With Sling.TV, the only cost is the programming and any hardware cost is a one time cost.

Dropping to 120 would have cut too many channels my wife watched, so I figured I might as well switch to OTA plus Sling.TV. Dish is currently paused as I see if my wife can live with it that way. If so, then I'll drop dish. The fees are what is making it untenable.

Personally I lay that at the feet of Samsung. All sling can do is make it available. Samsung actually has to push it onto the TV's. Asking Sling to let you know when it will be there is like asking Google for when a Verizon Droid phone will get the latest android update.

Sling TV IP streaming TV service. It isn't a functionality for your satellite service. It's a service separate from your satellite service. You might want to post your question in the actual Dish Network Hopper forum.

Dish is now on pause and I did the roku 3 deal with Sling TV. Wife is living with it right now. So far it's working well except for one night when someone was overdriving their wireless router nearby and it clobbered my network.
