If you want an hd box, you have to ask for it. They don't assume you have an hd tv. If your neighbor has an hd tv and wants to switch, the easiest thing to do is bring the old box to a customer service center and switch it.

Take the remote and the box back and get a new pair. Make sure it's new and not refurbished.

I have mine hooked up through the s-video connection. It letter boxes the hd channels. I also set the letterbox background color to black from the standard grey.

You should be able to go in person to one of the walk-in offices and ask for an HD DVR. I've done it.

Are you trying to do this to copy over your saved programs? It won't work. They are encrypted and will only work on the DVR the drive was attached to.

On Nick, The Peguins of Madagascar and some of the live action shows are in HD.

I would get similar problems with channels 702 and 713. It was due to a bad connection between a cable and a splitter. The cable ends and the splitter were replaced and the problem hasn't come back since. You might want to call to get a technician out or you could try replacing them yourself...
