    Yeah, I know. So I'll need to keep the original drive to put back in. But if it's like most of the other stuff I've had like that, by the time I'm ready to give it back they won't want it anymore.     Well, I picked up another cable today. And an eSATA adapter for one of my PC's. So I'll be able to tell if it's either the cable or the drive. What do I do if it's neither of those? It's not like it's a supported feature.

    My assumption was that the recorded shows would be tied to the access card, not the specific unit.     Thanks. The local Costco has them in stock, so I think I'll run over and grab one. I've been having issues with my HR20 locking up when I change channels, and it occurred to me that having an external drive is a good way to not lose everything if I end up having to swap the DVR for a different one.
