I think what the OP is saying is that the picture he gets is 16x9 but squished to the 4x3 ratio. So, by using the "stretch" function the OP can see a full non-distorted 16x9 image, no black bars - though in SD. I do see that effect with some low power OTA local channels here in Atlanta. Also...

Chances of Losing Fox News Comes November 1st? For me, not having Fox News on Election Day is unacceptable. What do you think of the chances Fox News will be gone November 1st? Should I cancel Dish outright while there's still time to get a different provider? Thanks for your responses!

I am not a big Voomer, although I enjoyed a few channels they had. However, I wish dish as well dumped all these pseudo-HD channels that have no HD at all.

We subscribers have no control over HD channels content. We cannot turn off the channels that market themselves as HD, but instead show stretch-o-vision or just plain SD. That is why there's no incentive for any channel to show actual HD - we subscribers are paying $$$ no matter what we get to...

I am absolutely amazed at Dish's mismanaging this whole issue. First, they divided their customer base into "favored" - the ones who can get the new HD channels - and "unfavored", the ones who can not. Now they're trying to charge a pathetic $15 fee triggering confusion and anger amongst...

The more customers agree to donate $15 to Dish for what is their total responsibility, the harder it will be for the rest of us to get the upgrade for free as it should be by all means.

Just spoke with a CSR. RTVI+ has been dropped completely, and RTVI replaced by STS (or CTC). The CSR was clueless as to the reason why. Hmmmm...
