    Moving to Direct from Charter

    RE: leaving charter I made the same move Dec-2007...one of the best moves I've ever made. Welcome! I went with a local installer, simply b/c you generally get the exact same deal ($$$-wise) and you can usually get a better installation schedule/time-frame from the local guy. RBJ

    Directv remote?

    This should be possible. When setting up the remote for your Audio receiver, read the description carefully...near the bottom it should have instructions for enabling the volume controls while in DTV mode on the remote. RBJ

    MMM (Sports Packages) ... do they require a land line?

    Both DirecTV.com and the 800 number explicitly state that a land line is required for all sports packages. :eek: I just talked to Customer Service, who "checked with" someone else, and they say it is not a requirement. Does anyone know from experience? Thanks, RBJ

    Cheers and Welcome I made the same move at the end of 2007, Charter (yuck) to D*. A year in, each day I still have a big smile about my decision. I hope you find the same :D

    Installation w/o phone line

    To clarify, you can still use Pay-per-view without a landline. However, rather than ordering the PPV by using your remote, you have to order at the DirecTV website OR call Customer Service. Not a biggie.
