    How about a Tivo and an additional receiver? you can get Tivo's for $50 right now. Of course that means you pay $5 extra a month in subscription fees.

    Thanks- that clears things up. I would probably qualify for a local CBS,NBC and ABC affiliate along with FOX. I am in a semi-rural area so hopefully existing dish would work if I ever decided to spend another $6 a month.

    They obviously want a credit card that way they can charge you and ruin your credit history if you take the equipment and run. With a bank card a clever person could just open a bank account put the activation fee in there and never pay for programming. What you would do with the equipment...
