    AMIKO New to Ku Band

Is your coax existing or new? If existing, are there any splitters in line? Seems to me your receiver showing your installation page on TV, ought to show at least SIGNAL (not quality) even if it isnt pointed correctly, so long as there is an uninterrupted connection between LNB to receiver and...

What went wrong with Orby, news story

Lots of people totally disgusted with whiney millionaire traitors displaying their disrespect for the country that made them rich. Nah, lack of sports wasn't "the" issue at all.

Dish sent my wife $300 gift card to 'switch to Dish'

I never had Dish before, but after the demise of Orby, I got that same offer and signed up for it. Only have about $20 left on the $300 card LOL. My wife got that same offer a few days ago. Can't switch accounts because of the $20/month early termination fee.

Kiwisat, possible replacement for Orby for southern states.

Being unfamiliar with paying for tv, I subscribed to Orby, not recognizing some trouble signs. One of the signs I would recognize now, after my Orby experience would be, signing up with a startup or small company with a limited market area and limited possibilities for a greater market area. I...

Usage after demise: Hacking receiver's and DVR's firmware for something else?

OK, found the item I torment my friends with on their birthdays.... "I actually look forward to birthdays and growing older. The older I get, the fewer things it takes to make me happy... which is good because I can't remember where I put 'em anyway. And if I do stumble across them, it's...

Usage after demise: Hacking receiver's and DVR's firmware for something else?

No, I think there are more of us than will admit to it. A few years ago I wrote a sort of funny little item that I used to include in the birthday cards I sent out. I was going to paste it in for you but.... I can't find it! I think it's on my laptop at home. I'll look for it when I return in a...

Usage after demise: Hacking receiver's and DVR's firmware for something else?

That's what I did, got an enclosure, reformatted the disk and moved on. So many projects, so little time. I bought a new OTA recorder for around $30 and put it away in case I ever leave Dish. The Orby box is long gone.

Orby TV - Chapter 11 Details

Try the Epson eco tank. Had mine over a year and have never added a single drop of ink. The colors still look full and the black is still 2/3 full. More than paid for itself in what I DIDN'T spend on cartridges.

Put old Orby set top boxes to use.

Got my new drive enclosure today and inserted the Orby drive and plugged it into my old laptop, and it wasn't recognized. Clicked on "help" and there were instructions on how to format a drive. Stumbled around a little bit and got it formatted, and downloaded a ton of pictures and MP3s, and...
