    3 Ghz or Not

That's the whole point. The techs don't have to think on their own and cut corners. They just do the job per the installation rules and the customer doesn't have to worry about what other crappy things the tech might have cut corners on. Fewer trouble calls in the future. I believe Scott is...

    3 Ghz or Not

From a Dish installer tech's perspective, the specs are irrelevant. Dish's installation rules are more strict than those specs. If you're doing anything else, it's the customer taking the risk on his own and cutting corners. (Or worse a tech cutting corners.) A similar example would be the...

    3 Ghz or Not

There are basically two different issues. What the tech is required to do as part of his job and what the customer can get away with on his own cutting corners. The tech has installation requirements from Dish that usually require using 3GHz cable for certain parts of the system. If I...

    Hopper 3 folder?

Scott has been answering questions in his review thread and he basically says the only thing's changed is the number of folders you can create. Unfortunately, everything else is the same. (Even after we told Dish all these problems regarding organizing recordings three years ago.) See this...

So far not a good upgrade.

Always confirm the equipment before the tech starts any work or you'll end up with a headache. The techs can make mistakes with getting the right equipment on the truck. Happens a lot with newly launched equipment like when the first gen hopper launched.

    Hopper 3 Available Jan. 30th

others have said the online account may not be accurate in determining joey 1.0 vs 2.0. Hit the Menu button twice on the remote for the joey and it will tell you on the screen which software version it is on. My Joey 1.0 is on software version s395 A Joey 2.0 should be somewhere near software...

    Hopper 3 Available Jan. 30th

how did you determine you have a joey 1.0? There's no visible difference between a joey 1.0 and joey 2.0. The difference is all inside the box. Post the firmware version on the joey and we should be able to tell you.

    Hopper 3 Available Jan. 30th

i believe you should be able to make changes, but the problem is whether he actually has a 4k version on his truck or not. Sometimes these guys carry just the equipment on the order. If the guy calls you ahead of the appointment, you may want to confirm whether he has the equipment on your...

    Scott's Mini Hopper 3 Review

16 Regular tuners. One of them can be optionally used for PTAT, but it can also be used as a regular tuner if you don't watch much tv on the broadcast networks. Your choice.

    Hopper 3 Available Jan. 30th

the tech should do it because it's part of the installation rules for the Hopper 3. The problem I could see is that Dish's training with new equipment is uneven so it's hard to say if your tech will know or not. If you have trouble with your tech, print out some of the literature here and show...

    Scott's Mini Hopper 3 Review

Is the management of recordings better on the new carbon interface? Let's say you had 1000 recordings between your kids, wife, etc. Would it be easy to organize it all? It's terrible on the hopper 1 with the old interface when you have so many recordings. It will only get worse going from 2...

    HOPPER 3 UPGRADES

The hopper and Joey are basically always on 24/7. Unless you unplug the power cord, it's using the same amount of energy. This was all checked when the hopper was launched. There's a whole thread about it with measurements. It's possible that the H3 works differently, but I highly doubt it...

    Hopper 3, DISH 1000+, 118.7 International

Scott posted this from Vivek in the upgrade thread: http://www.satelliteguys.us/xen/posts/3808128/ at least there is some hope for us 1000+ dish customers who can't or won't add a second wing dish. Although a really long wait.

    DISH 2016 CES Press Event

you would be absolutely crazy not to go for the Hopper 3. The previous Hoppers are dinosaurs compared to the new one with old poorly designed user interface. I believe the new Hopper 3 has Dish's new redesigned software. Definitely take Scott's advice. If there was a single dish upgrade...

    DISH 2016 CES Press Event

question for Scott... do you think that Dish will release a hybrid LNB for customers with the 1000+ for internationals? I feel like a lot of people will not like the idea of using two dishes for Hopper 3 just to keep internationals from 118.7.
