Shaw software won't download to receiver

Does the receiver show any signal strength at all when you tune to G1 channels? Or just flat 0 and -10dB?

    Shaw Direct Signal in Az

Is this reception of channels still on F2 -- or reception of channels that have shifted to G1?

ANIK F2 - Thy End Is Near

My bad. At this point, I'm not sure what channels are on what sat and in what mode. I'm getting strong reception of 252 and 258, it's true that reception of some F2 channels has been a bit stronger in recent weeks. I don't have 94-96 on my channel line-up. The earlier Arizona report on this...

ANIK F2 - Thy End Is Near

So maybe the actual satellite footprint is larger than the maps posted here indicate?

Are you saying this is a temporary aberration? Reception in Arizona with an 800 receiver would suggest reception is possible beyond the beam map you have posted.

    Shaw Direct Signal in Az

No "conflicting stories" have been given. I'd specifically referenced the numbered Telesat footprint map in an earlier, detailed post.

    Shaw Direct Signal in Az

Thanks, but I am aware of the wobble and its effect on reception. I've been observing it for months. I specifically chose to realign at a time when the satellite was not in one of its extreme positions. Any loss of signal I observed last night was due to the change in the channel guide or...

How to get Canadian satellite in the USA?

MaineMoose's original post was more than six months ago. The original poster didn't respond to replies back in April and hasn't posted anything since then. I'm not sure there's much point in continuing this thread, though it's not illegal (haha).

    Shaw Direct Signal in Az

This morning, my program guide is back to its previous state, with CBC Toronto and Vancouver back. But I still wonder about what appears to be a weak signal from G1 on my 600-series receiver. Grateful for any thoughts as to how much signal strength is needed to be usable.

    Shaw Direct Signal in Az

I've noticed some bizarre behavior down here in the Southeast U.S. I was getting remaining channels fairly well, but signal strength had dropped to 70, so I tweaked my 75cm dish this evening and obtained a 93 signal on 252 and other channels such as CBC Toronto and TCM, were working fine. A few...

ANIK F2 - Thy End Is Near

While it's nice to know we have a few more months of sporadic reception, I'll be sorry to see this go. I've been watching Canadian television (most notably CBC) since 1985, when I got my first C-band satellite dish and CBC TV and radio were FTA (including the days of analog SCPC). Of course, I...

ANIK F2 - Thy End Is Near

Not in Arizona, but in southeastern US getting 77-78 at the moment on potentially misaligned dish -- about the same signal strength as CBC Toronto and Super Ecran. No signal seen for BBC News or TCM.

ANIK F2 - Thy End Is Near

I was looking at the longitudinal drift, which is predicted to be less than the similar graph predicted a few days ago. What's most striking to me, if I am reading the charts correctly, is the change in altitude. The altitude changes 25 km (from low to high or vice versa) every 12 hours -- a...

ANIK F2 - Thy End Is Near

I've been observing the same irregular reception for weeks. This morning, I had a good number of channels coming in, but with occasional breakup due to signal strengths in the 50s and 60s -- nothing higher This afternoon, CBC Toronto and Super Ecran 1 coming in well with 70s signal strength, but...

ANIK F2 - Thy End Is Near

Thanks for the direct link to graph, but the times are suspect. On the 170-hour chart, at 1845 UTC (2:45pm Eastern), the most recent data point is listed as 2043 UTC and 4:43pm EDT today. Perhaps the times are CET (Central European Time), not GMT, as listed? Or is the chart making a two-hour...
