    HR2x / HR34 External Hard Drive FYI/Support (eSATA)

Well unfortunately my 1TB Seagate Showcase got overwritten again over the weekend. Not much else than to try to return it and get a replacement.

    HR2x / HR34 External Hard Drive FYI/Support (eSATA)

CFB, Thanks.....ran out to the local Fry's and they did not have SIIG's eSATA cable but they did have Link Depot's. So I got it, reinstalled, recorded a couple of shows and dowloaded the SW per your explicit instructions..... AND IT WORKED!!! The recorded shows are still there. I can't...

    HR2x / HR34 External Hard Drive FYI/Support (eSATA)

Happened again last night. SG Showcase works fine as far as recording/playing goes but this is incredibly frustrating as all my recorded shows are deleted when the SW gets refreshed. Any ideas from anyone on what I can do about it? I'm wondering if the fact that I'm on an old grandfathered...

    HR2x / HR34 External Hard Drive FYI/Support (eSATA)

Seagate Showcase Issues So I installed a 1TB Seagate Showcase this summer, but whenever DirecTV sends an update it wipes my drive of all recorded programs. After it happened Sunday night for the 3rd time in 4 months, I reverted back to the original. Any suggestions on possible solutions...

    How to position the dish

The Acutrac does not tell you which satellite you are pointing at, but since I just need to tweak my existing dish position, it was ideal, since it allows you to align both signals at the same time. Obviously I have nowhere near the skills of an installer but I got enough to get the job done...

    How to position the dish

Got the AcuTrac 22 Pro, hooked up both LNBs, tuned one to 55.2 and the other to 53.1 (best that I could do). Came inside and the signal strength was 96-97 on both satellites. Awesome - thanks to all of you for your posts in other threads - really appreciated the suggestions and ideas...

    How to position the dish

Thanks for the replies.... I used to get a fairly clear signal of 89 to 93 on both LNBs but have since come down to the 60's. The post is wood, and some have claimed that 'wood twists' but I had wanted to put something in that was somewhat aesthetic. The heavy rain sometimes interferes with my...

    How to position the dish

Thanks Newsposter... I have the old 2 lnb dish, not the 3lnb. I have no problem running out and buying a compass - a couple of the threads posted some info about Walmart compasses and others, but I just found a signal finder that seems to do the trick. www sadoun com...

    How to position the dish

I have a poor view of the southern sky, to the extent that I have to mount my dual LNB dish on a pole as close to the street as possible to get the best angle. My question is, how can I adjust the dish position? I have read that all I need is a compass, but are there actually metrics that...

Trees blocking signal - will a larger dish work?

Thanks to all... I made the mistake of trimming two trees - and one of my neighbors called it in. Now I have to pay for the removal of the cut trees plus replanting to re-establish the tree canopy. Ugh. Worst of all the signal to the 101 satellite is no better than it was before. I did...

Trees blocking signal - will a larger dish work?

Thanks for all of your responses. I guess I can read between the lines and none of you would consider installing a tower and raising the dish. I completely understand, but thought it was worth asking the question. Perhaps I can get someone willing to trim the trees at night "under the...

Trees blocking signal - will a larger dish work?

2nd option Okay, assuming that I am SOL without line of sight, how can I find someone who will install a tower (24' & above) and put my DirecTV dish on top of it? I live in Bellevue, WA just outside of Seattle.

Trees blocking signal - will a larger dish work?

I have a dual LNB 20" DIrecTV system with 5 receivers. Recently the trees uphill from me have blocked my signal to 33 on LNB 1 and 25 on LNB 2. I already have my dish mounted on a 12' pole, and was bout abondom hope when I found the attached from a google search...
