Cancelled VOOM, may or may not be VOOM's fault

It is democratic country, man! Between PlayboyHD and a happier wife, the choice was an easy one. But I am very depressed about moving back to cable. It is history going backward, and I don't watch TV much any more...

Cancelled VOOM, may or may not be VOOM's fault

It is hard to believe for me too. There is a burning mark on the mount of the OTA as well as the dish signal module. The cable from the dish to the receive got burned and becomes useless. The lighting caused a surge, hit the voom receiver, and pass the surge to the power system though the...

Cancelled VOOM, may or may not be VOOM's fault

I am not an expert to give you a good answer. I went up to the roof and see no wires except the cable. So I called Voom to check it up, but the lighting came first...

Cancelled VOOM, may or may not be VOOM's fault

I have no problem with VOOM programming, and in fact very happy with what I got. But as I mentioned in one of my earlier post, the installer never ground the dish, and finally, lighting hit us... I am in a process that asking InstallInc. to pay for all the damage, and VOOM promised to help...

    Warning! Ground your Dish

Chris, Thanks for the education. According to eyewitness when everything broke down, there was a loud noise outside the house and a orange flash. No sign that the lightning stroked the dish directly. It is possible it happened the way you descript. Thanks again.

    Warning! Ground your Dish

Here is what happened. This weekend, after a storm (not a big one), my house got fried. The computer router, AV receiver, VCR, VOOM receiver, Furnace, all Ethernet cards on all connected computers... I just found out that my 2 neighbor house got similar damage. The reason is unknown for...

Sean, where is your cool title picture?

Sean, You are famous for your greenish, futuristic picture. Seems you changed twice recently (personally, I won't put my real picture on web site, especially family's). May be just me, I miss your old icon, which become some sort of spiritual thing of this forum :) I assume I spoke for a...

    VOOM Customer Service Representatives

Grishamfan, I hope you are one of the leader of VOOM CSR team. It is nice of you to communicate your customers directly this way. Hope you can use the information here to improve your service. My CSR experience is really a toss up. The first time is a lucky for VOOM. I was pissed by...

    DVI question with voom`

I will be nice if you have another TV to try on. My guess the problem is the TV, rather than the DVI cable or STB.

Is there any chance to get rid of the land phone line requirement

My installer never mentioned the phone line, and my phone jack is nowhere near the receiver. I questioned VOOM about the land line, here is the response I got: ... Your receiver must always be directly connected to a traditional land-based telephone line to receive the VOOM Service. If it...

Would you pay for VOOM Exclusive channels?

IMO, only PlayboyHD worth $14.90/mo, VOOM won't sell its channels well (if sold separately). I will definitely drop VOOM if they do that.

    Voom cables

Most installers will perfer to use your existing cable wires already build-in to your house, so that they only need to run the cable from the dish to the cable box on the outside wall of your house. I kept my regular cable with basic cable service as backup, and the cable modem for internet...

    Improvement Wish List for Voom

I think VOOM also should get rid of the phone line requirement.
