I recently received my bill that had a $59 and change charge for ST Max, so I phoned in to cancel. But I was actually hoping they would shoot back with a good offer. The guy just said ok and cancelled it out. Funny thing is I really don't care now. I may call back before the season starts...

Good plan. Or he can capture them to his PC with something like a Hauppauge 1212 or an AVerMedia AVerTV USB HD DVR (that's the name on the box it came in). I was using the Hauppauge, then starting having some issues with that brand and recently picked up the AVerMedia box to capture RGB...

I meant from the web NFL ST Max standpoint. But yeah, on the Sat side I'm sure DTV could reallocate some PPV for the channels needed.

It might also help DirecTV from a bandwidth standpoint if the league didn't stack 10 games in one time slot.

I just read the forums here to get ideas and play nice with the CSR's in retentions and they usually have been good to me.

Time for my annual check-in re: NFL ST. I called them up today and mentioned that I will already be getting 6 of the 16 games free because I'm in a secondary market and my favorite team was my home team, but I like the NFL ST because they sometimes give me better games than I would otherwise...

I have used this as well. It works good. Just connect the RGB+audio cables from the Direct box and plug the other end of the 5 RCA cables into the Hauppauge, plug in the USB and you're in business (after you install the Hauppauge software, of course).

If you have a smart phone you can download the MLB app (usually around $10 or $15 per season, I forget) and it gives you the scores and streams the game audio. If you have the MLB.TV subscription, you can also get the out of market games on the smart phone through the MLB app on the phone too...

You would want to confirm, but I believe Bakersfield would be the Lakers market, while Fresno appears to have both Warriors and Kings (CSN Bay Area & CSN California). I put in a Fresno area zip and confirmed those two CSN channels. By doing this, you would also lose your LA locals and lose...

You may have been able to call them, complain, and maybe you'd get NBA league pass for free. Then call a day or two later and "move" just outside of the Lakers "home" area and watch them on league pass. win / win

Since they check your credit, they may also go by social security number. Heck if you're unsuccessful with CSR roulette and end up cancelling, there's probably a good chance they'll call you back within a week and ask you why you cancelled (I know Dish did this when my sister cancelled). When...

Sounds like your coax got clipped. Are any of your neighbors handy with electrical stuff? Maybe they could fix it. If not, maybe call DirecTV and see what it could cost to get it fixed. It should be a simple service call if nothing else. Maybe it's covered under the protection plan?
