Hopper/Joey recording buffer when powered off?

One of the features, I mean maybe THE ONE feature I liked about the DirecTV DVRs was that when the boxes were off, they were keeping a buffer of I think it was the last 2 hours on whatever channel you were tuned to when you powered the box off. I thought it was pretty cool, as sometimes, like...

    Losing channels in custom guide.

Next time you see them reappear, check to see if another different channel is missing now. I answered your question in my Hopper recording rampage thread, but my hopper wil drop channels, 5,7,9 and 11. Only one at a time. So let's say channel 5 is missing from my favorites list, then one day it...

    Odd one on Hooper.

I will let you know for sure. Has not happened again. I want to say this was Weds of last week, you may ask copperavery who posted above if he remembers when his went nutso too? I have to say though, that coming from that "other" satellite company, I'm really happy with this system. That other...

    Odd one on Hooper.

I've never been able to resolve it. I'm sorry I guess I sort of implied that I had. Same issue as you I think. It happens randomly and sometimes the channels ARE there in the favorites guide, I'll think they "fixed it" and then the next day it'll be gone again. It also rotates between channels...

    Odd one on Hooper.

I certainly did ask her. She claims to not have. For the record I haven't had many issues either. When I first had it installed the Joey had some connectivity issues with On Demand but they are resolved. And I've had the channel 9 or 11 disappearing from the favorites list. Other than that and...

    Odd one on Hooper.

This may have been mentioned, but....On Wednesday I noticed my Hopper's red recording light was on for what seemed like a long time. Thinking it odd, but not paying much attention to it, I went about my day. I'm self employed and work from home which is why I noticed it during the day in the...

Joey connects to network only when it feels like it for On Demand. What is up?

I forgot scenario 4 in my OP: Scenario 4: Hitting on demand button, brief flash of black, straight back to Live TV.

Joey connects to network only when it feels like it for On Demand. What is up?

Thanks for chiming in. I was starting to wonder if I was going insane. We rarely use the On Demand function from the Joey TV so it's not imperative, BUT it would be nice to know it works. It's a feature we pay for right? We have obviously tried to use it so we do use it from time to time. To...

Joey connects to network only when it feels like it for On Demand. What is up?

Guys, I finally got rid of Directv after 7 years, not to start a debate. I'm very happy with it. Picture looks as good as DirecTV, or at least close. Speed of the Hopper and Joey is one million times better than DirecTV. Anyway, digging the Hopper and Joey. Installer was nice and such. But, I...

Question on contract extension with defective receiver replacement.

Yeah, well, last defective replacement for me was just in January. Was told by a CSR that I would be charged $199 to replace the defective receiver... I told them if they charged me a penny for their borked receiver, I would cancel and eat the ETF (remember I had been pushed into a 2 year...

Question on contract extension with defective receiver replacement.

Thanks guys. I am now officially OUT of contract, took all of 5 minutes after saying "cancel" at the voice prompt. Retention looked over the account and within 20 seconds said "Yep, you never should have had this commitment extended". Man, I mean, not sure if it's underhanded or not on their...

Question on contract extension with defective receiver replacement.

I'm calling in. They have extended me three times. I am upset. Doesn't mean I would have left or will leave. But I'm PISSED.

Question on contract extension with defective receiver replacement.

I'm confused. Replacing a defective receiver DOES require a new 2 year agreement? Or it does not? Problem is, if it DOES NOT, I have agreed to it. Reluctantly, but agreed nonetheless.

Question on contract extension with defective receiver replacement.

For the record, no out of ordinary use or abuse on the receivers. They're well ventilated and nothing sits atop them, etc. They've just randomly crapped out. Once, the card reader died and we've had 2 others that have had HD failures.

Question on contract extension with defective receiver replacement.

Long time member, rare poster, consistent lurker. Quick question. For the record, we've been with DirecTV for about 7 years as "valued customers". I suppose valued meaning, we have simply always paid on time.... On three, count them THREE separate occassions over the years, I have had to have...
