Yeah except that the NHL season is over, and the NBA is in Finals which means Network broadcast, no RSNs. I don't see a Bandwidth saturation that would prevent the SNY HD from being transmitted.
Yeah something's up with my box. It says try Channel Up or Down then back, and if I still have a problem to do reset with the Power button, but no "lost satellite signal".
FYI I'm in DC, and being next to NY, the DC spotbeam doesn't have tp15.
Aha! Thanks for the thread link.
I also get low 30's for 17, 19, and 21. I actually get a 45 for tp15. Bizarre given that it seems I shouldn't get a signal. NoVA is between the NY and NC spotbeams, assuming that the NC spotbeam carries tp15 as well.
What do you have to tp 15? I'm in Northern VA as well, although 'moved' to NY. I get a lock for tp 15, but I'm wondering if we're under a different spotbeam area for tp 15 other than NY.
I tried deciphering the Rainbow 1 spotbeam map on dbstalk, but 'Area 6' doesn't match up well on the map.
I'm just throwing this out there, b/c I'm not in the Pub and this is really early to speculate too much, but couldn't we just use a modified Dish 500 to point at 62.5 and 72.7?
Don't forget that some of the Disc* shows are produced by British studios in 15x9 HD, so there will be some slight pillarboxing on those shows. I agree though, HD Theater tends to have better visual quality.
Ok, maybe I just haven't done enough searching, but I don't get how broadcasting only the games is saving bandwidth. Are there channels that are being turned off while the games are on? Do other channels get output at a lower bitrate?
YES does not produce Away games in HD? I'm pretty sure I've seen YES-HD highlights when the Yankees are away, and I know I've seen highlights for FSN BA and Florida when the Giants and Marlins are playing away. My primary point is that if these two stations can financially sustain the cost of...
My understanding is that SNY-HD is not a 24/7 HD feed on E*, and this is probably why. If FSN Bay Area (Giants) and FSN Florida (Marlins?!) can do away games in HD, surely SNY, with its good ratings, can fork out the $$$.
