Ku band LNBF Mounting Ideas Needed

arlo. I'll try to get you a picture or two of the side view of my set up. The pipe bracket I mentioned is a 1.5 inch and would fit easily around a Ku LNBF and might also work with a C Band feedhorn depending on its dimensions. Experimenting is what makes this hobby interesting and fun. Also...

    Ecoda 22khz Switch Failure ?

Brian, I decided to order several (for backups) 22khz switches from Hyper and will "settle" for C band until they arrive. Thanks for your reply and stay well. John

    Ecoda 22khz Switch Failure ?

Comptech, Thanks for your reply. Since my 22khz switch is inside, hidden above a drop ceiling, it would be easier for me not to run power up that way for a self powered 4x8 switch, despite the advantage of a 4X8 switch. I've actually had good luck with this 22khz switch which lasted over 15...

    Ecoda 22khz Switch Failure ?

Hi All, After having flawless Ku reception, suddenly today I have none. C band works fine. I'm thinking my Ecoda 22khz switch failed. If so, can I replace it with a Diseqc switch since I don't have a spare 22khz switch ? Thanks in advance, John

Ku band LNBF Mounting Ideas Needed

arlo, Looks like you're well on your way in setting up a Ku LNBF. I think my solution of using a pipe hanger to hold the Ku LNBF (suggested by Titanium) would have been less expensive for you, but good luck never the less. Ku is awesome !!! John

Ku band LNBF Mounting Ideas Needed

Arlo, All good ideas presented besides mine. However, the method I used with Titanium's direction, would cost you $1.37 (pipe hanger at Home Depot) plus of course the cost of the Ku LNBF. I'm using the Maverick MK1-PLL and you can buy it from one of our Satellite Guys members, ke4est on ebay at...

Ku band LNBF Mounting Ideas Needed

Arlo, Yes...I would say that your drawing on the right would reflect my dish appearance at the top of the arc, allowing for the difference in the Ku LNBF placement. John

Ku band LNBF Mounting Ideas Needed

Hi Arlo, I recently mounted a Ku LNBF alongside my C band scaler using an idea Brian (Titanium) gave me. Instead of drilling a hole through the scaler as he suggested, I had a spare unused post on the scaler I wasn't using as my previous dish had 4 feed arms. Using a 1 1/2" galvanized pipe...

    no signal on 78W Venesat/Bolivar?

Hi All, Over at Ricks, a poster has noted that "the latest TLE's indicate that Venesat 1 (Simon Bolivar) is at 98.7 degrees West and is moving West at 3.5 degrees per day." Not sure if this is a planned move which was not mentioned, or a failure of the satellite which has sent it "adrift." Its...

Adding Ku To My C Band System

a33, Good to hear from you. I don't believe I made it clear to Brian that I had a standard Ku LNBF (Maverick MK1PLL), my mistake. I did however, connect it to the powered port none the less. It still needs some tweaking a bit at the dish, to get a good steady signal. John

Adding Ku To My C Band System

Brian, One more bit of clarification please. You wrote, "Set the band setting to either Band = ON if C-band LNBF is connected to 22KHz ON port or Band = OFF if the C-band LNBF is connected to the 22KHz OFF port. " By band setting do you mean tone mode and by "on" do you mean the "on" mode or...

Adding Ku To My C Band System

Hi Brian, Looking again at my Ku set up I now notice that it should be set up as a standard not universal LNBF. Thanks for pointing that out. I want to switch the ports I have my C and Ku lnbfs. Would prefer the opposite set up. Also, I didn’t set up my diseqec settings yet as I’m working on...

Adding Ku To My C Band System

Hi Brian, One more thing...can you check that my settings are correct in the enclosed pictures. C band LNBF is attached to line 1 of the 22KHz switch and the Ku LNBF is attached to line 2. Thanks in advance for all your help.:hail John

Adding Ku To My C Band System

Hi Brian, I haven't really done any configuring yet with my stb. The reading I got from my Ku LNBF was out at the dish. I was wondering what settings I have to make with my stb now that I'm splitting the signal between 2 LNBFs with the Encoda switch. Thanks, John

Adding Ku To My C Band System

Hi All, Just an update and a question, I have attached my Ku LNBF to my dish alongside my C Band LNBF. Using 97W (11836V 20770) for reference, I'm getting a signal of between 9-11 dB. What settings do I need to program on my stb (Edision Mios 4K) to take advantage of the Ku LNBF ? I'm using...

comfortably_numb. I just noticed that myself as I look further into this upcoming change. Also found that Anik F2 is one year past its end of life service. John

    Anik F1 Replacement ?

Hi All, Here's what I've found. I knew nothing of this until this morning and I thought I followed satellite news pretty thoroughly...guess not. I hope they use Anik F2 for C Band as I cannot reach down to 119W. John

    Anik F1 Replacement ?

HI All, I recently read that this Canadian satellite will be retired in a few months which is too bad as I receive all available transponders very strongly. I also enjoy the programing found here. Any news on a replacement satellite or will the transponders be relocated to Anik F2 ? Thanks in...

Adding Ku To My C Band System

Hi Brian, Good to hear from you and thanks for responding. Your solution seems to be the one that will give me the cleanest install and reliability. So...I think I'll give it a go. However, I do appreciate all other suggestions offered me...thanks guys This dish has performed flawlessly since...
