    Canceling DirecTV

I do have access, but why bother. My Roku Ultra is much faster than the TV. Why would I use a slower interface? Apps on a top end OTT box will always run better, for a longer period of time, than smart tv apps.

    Canceling DirecTV

So, I have one with Android TV on it. And it proves my point about using an OTT box. What are the chances of SONY updating the apps on this tv?

    Canceling DirecTV

I totally agree on not using a tv itself for streaming. I have a two year old Sony 4K tv with Android TV and I have a Roku Ultra attached to it which is a far faster and better experience. The tv does have great PQ with the OTA tuner though.

Netflix to Begin Cracking Down on Password Sharing

While my family and I are all in with streaming, shows coming and going are a real problem. That's why we buy plenty of DVDs and now blu rays. We have felt that the only real on-demand service is going to a shelf and picking out what you want to watch.

    HBO Max/Discovery+ Merger

I went from the ad-free yearly plan to the ad-supported yearly plan due to to this fear. I figured Playon removes the ads anyway. And if it all goes to hell, I'd save a little money before cancelling. If they would have kept the DC content on the DC app, I would never have subscribed to HBO Max...

    CES 2023 - ATSC 3.0 and Antenna Tech + 4K HDR Broadcasts

Will we really see 4K broadcasts or will it be five 720p channels instead from a station?

Netflix to Begin Cracking Down on Password Sharing

And don't forget the unadvertised price increases. Broadcast, RSN and equipment fees. That could easily add another $50 with most providers. I paid roughly $156 for internet/tv when I cut the cord five years ago. I currently pay under $117 for internet and streaming. That includes Philo and...

Netflix to Begin Cracking Down on Password Sharing

I'm tired of seeing this all the time. When you charge a lower price to begin with, a $5 hike will be a larger percentage than a $5 hike would be from a cableco or sat provider.

Google Scores NFL Sunday Ticket Package

I do like football, but what is shown on the broadcast networks on Sunday and Amazon on Thursday is plenty for me. But everyone is different and if $300 works for you, that's okay too. My family cut the cord years ago and currently have Philo for my cable needs, so no sports outside of fighting...

Google Scores NFL Sunday Ticket Package

I guess if you're a real NFL fan, it might be worth it. But compared to all of the other professional sports leagues it sure isn't. Every other league package is $100 to $200 less per season, for games that are on all week and not just on Sunday.

DIRECTV unlikely to keep NFL Sunday Ticket

Google might be able to make money on ST with 7 million subs (depending on their overhead). But will they be able to get that many? I guess we'll see if being on DirectTV held back ST's growth.

Google Scores NFL Sunday Ticket Package

Google makes so much money on advertising that it has never been afraid to lose money on a venture (Stadia and Google + for example). But those money losing ventures are usually short lived. We'll see how they make money on ST and what they'll do if ST doesn't make them any money. I honestly...

The end for Traditional TV is closer then ever

That thread has gone haywire and really should be shut down due to not only becoming off-topic but also the defamatory bs being flung around in it. Although I have to admit I do get a bit of sick entertainment seeing how low people can go in it.

The end for Traditional TV is closer then ever

Just a couple of weeks ago I filled out a questionnaire that Nielsen mailed to me. I couldn't believe that they are still mailing these things out.

The end for Traditional TV is closer then ever

While technically true, bandwith is being wasted by posting an argument in a thread that has nothing to do with it.

The end for Traditional TV is closer then ever

What? People arguing about streaming vs traditional in the proper forum and not wasting bandwith in the Sunday Ticket thread? WTF?

DIRECTV unlikely to keep NFL Sunday Ticket

This thread has never been a good source of information. 90% of the comments revolve around which is better, streaming or traditional. I only come here to get a laugh and shake my head.

Cox Media Group Removes Local Channels From DISH

It was congress who allowed it. That law would have to be repealed, too much lobbyist money to allow that to happen.

    Retention? More like rejection!

Quite a bit. We get plenty of 4K through Netflix and Amazon Prime. Plus some from HBO Max and Vudu from our Movies Everywhere code redemption.

    Retention? More like rejection!

Same thing with me and my family. My wife and I still have a son at home and we stream everything. We stream music, download games, stream and download video. We barely use 1tb of our 1.5tb cap. We pay less for internet , music and tv combined than what I' ve seen people on this site pay for...

    Dish 2022-23 Price Increase

Or you go with the ad supported versions. $4.99 ea for both Peacock and Paramount+ and $7.99 for Hulu. Add Philo for $25/month and you have a very nice cable package for $42.97/month. A better deal than either the Welcome Pack or Flex Pack
