UI upgrade has RUINED Hopper 1 usability

OP here. My new Hopper3 was installed yesterday. I played with it all day. Do you wanna know how fast it is? It's exactly just as fast as my Hopper1 was when I first got it 5 years ago. Seriously, to the best of my recollection the Hopper1 was just as peppy back in 2012... then it was updated...

UI upgrade has RUINED Hopper 1 usability

Not in this case. If Dish had left the "classic" UI on first-gen Hoppers I may have kept mine forever, or until I needed 4K. It's all many people need. There's no new compelling feature in the upgrade, it's all about style. I think Dish has an enormous warehouse full of H3's they've got to move...

UI upgrade has RUINED Hopper 1 usability

OP here. I don't care about the money, it's the absurdity of it all. I was a happy customer paying a $12 a month for an "old" DVR. No thought of leaving. Then Dish screws it up. I've never experienced anything like it. Hey, I'm gonna love the Hopper 3. I probably should have upgraded sooner.

UI upgrade has RUINED Hopper 1 usability

I tried not to. It was either pay for the upgrade, suffer with the crippled Hopper1, or walk. Walk to what? What's better? Cable always offers me some every enticing 12-month rates, but cheap don't make it good.

    Issues Surrounding CUI Update

I feel your pain. I willingly installed the new UI a couple of weeks ago. I'm angry but beaten. I'm having a Hopper 3 with new Joey's installed on Monday. When you can't beat 'em, pay $100 for a Hopper 3 with a new 2-year commitment. Believe me, I tried the angry and disgruntled longtime...

UI upgrade has RUINED Hopper 1 usability

Dish wins. I'm a beaten man. After suffering with the new Hopper interface for the past two weeks, I ordered an upgrade to the Hopper 3. $100 and a 2-year commitment. I can't explain how slow my Hopper is now. I press the DVR button to get to my recordings and it takes a FULL 7 SECONDS for that...

UI upgrade has RUINED Hopper 1 usability

Just finished an online chat with Dish. I got the expected offer to upgrade to the Hopper 3 for $100. I'm so angry. I've been 100% satisfied with Dish for almost 10 years. Now they burn me by remote control overnight and I don't even have a choice in the matter. What do you call a "cord-cutter"...

UI upgrade has RUINED Hopper 1 usability

I know this isn't a new topic, but I only downloaded the upgrade 24 hours ago so I'm still in shock. I've gone from perfectly happy to disgusted. My Hopper 1 is now a slow sluggish relic of what was cutting edge tech only 5 years ago. It's not unusable, it's insufferable. My Hopper is now the...

I'm begging.. Please help me fix my "not connected to broadband" issue

Since having my Hopper installed last November I've reset the broadband connection many times and it always connected without fail, 3 greens. Now I can only get 1 green. Something has been broken by an update and we'll all just have to wait for the fix. I have S238 software. Meanwhile my...

    Hopper any good?

I just upgraded from a single TV and the VIP612 to four TV's with the Hopper and three Joeys. I AM THRILLED. :) Forget about the whole-home-DVR experience. That's great, but the Hopper alone is magnificent. I highly recommend the Hopper even if you're a one-TV household and don't need any...

    Got the Hopper yesterday... WOW!

Called to upgrade to Hopper. $65 and 4 very confusing minutes later...

I have 2 teenagers, 4 of us total in the house. We've all been sharing a single VIP622 with it's 2-tuner limitation and a single TV. We now have 4 HDTV's but all will never be running at once and we're almost always watching recorded material. I do have one question, does the PTAT utilize any...

Called to upgrade to Hopper. $65 and 4 very confusing minutes later...

Thanks for confirming my experience. I've never spoken with a service rep that was in such a hurry to complete a call. She didn't try to up-sell me anything. ;-) The 3 Joeys are all bedroom TV's so 1 Hopper should be enough. It'll certainly be a huge upgrade from my current 1 DVR setup.

Called to upgrade to Hopper. $65 and 4 very confusing minutes later...

I'm posting to tell all, that upgrading to Hopper right now will cost you $65, maybe. The phone call to request this was more than a little confusing. I requested an upgrade from my VIP612 to 1 Hopper and 3 Joeys. The customer service rep didn't ask me any questions at all or offer me any...

We all live on farms or ranches ?

Is my dish network broadcasting 1080p?

My one and only HD TV is 720p. Whenever I rent a BluRay disc I'm astounded at how much better it looks than any Dish channel. It made me think that upgrading to a 1080 TV would almost be pointless. Perhaps it's true that all of Dish is 720p... or worse!? I'll be interested to read the responses...

We all live on farms or ranches ?

Charlie's remark really sticks in my craw for some reason. I live in suburbia on a 1/4 acre lot and I see that a LOT of my neighbors love Dish, too. I drive into my small city where they live on 1/10th of an acre and see even more dishes. What the hell was he thinking when he made that remark...

Doomed Dish Installation Of The Day

That's just a few miles from me. I'll have to go take a look at that one. You have me curious. Could you narrow down the location for me.

Doomed Dish Installation Of The Day

I wish I knew. It's been up there forever and is still there even though they have the new dish. I imagine it'll come down the next time their roof is re-shingled.

Doomed Dish Installation Of The Day

My neighbor up the street lives with a very steep hill behind his house, the west side of his property. For as long as I can recall he's had this dish perched majestically upon his roof reaching for a view of the satellite. A couple of months ago this new setup appeared. It appears to be...
