you could actually be able to get some older receivers, gibe them a call and ask to switch to an hr54 as you are "not satisfied with the hs17 and you want a hr54" and insist on it, and while at it if you want you can ask for an h24/h25 and or a hr24 so you can get a receiver thats not dependant...

ntsc isnt a requirement, its just a plus, and are you sure it would need sat? from what ive seen it would just not have guide data

Yes it is smaller and here in Shreveport la it’s also still white/clear but when a bumper comes it is orange/red though

I think if you leave it plugged in for a while it should update on its own, that’s what my friend did atleast with his hopper duo and vip 722 and 211k

So my friend has a vip211 that he wants to use for ota (without service) and dish scapes (not required to have dish scapes though) and once he connected the receiver to his sat (500dpp) he let it update etc.. he plugged in his antenna and it found his channels but this is where the problem came...
