    Unreasonable Customer Rants

Stonecold, I can appreciate your dealings with customers. Pertaining to #2, about tripods. I'm an in house tech. It would be nice if CS agents knew that a tripod is not approved for the KaKu dish. 75% installs, of all apartment complexes, can't be done, by in house techs, period.

    am i crazy?

I don't think that is quite true. Or at least it's not supposed to be. Though it does seem like the CSR's make quite a few mistakes, and getting it reversed, if they make the mistake, is time consuming. The only time there is supposed to be a new commitment, is if you are getting new...

where to find the best deal?

Traditionally, the ST deal is as good as it gets, concerning programming.

    Gameplan

Fayetteville, TN has Huntsville Al locals. I would only be moving about 10 miles.

    Gameplan

Hmmm, this makes me want to "move" to Fayetteville Tn. I would be able to keep Huntsville locals.

I can not see Ka signal

Those signal strengths are too low. They need to be at least in the 80's, but preferably 90's. Beginning to look like an alignment issue.

I can not see Ka signal

My bad, I didn't see the SWM reference. If it's a SWM LNB, you select SWM5 in setup, not Slim5. Another possibility would be to check the power inserter. Edit: Actually, if it's SWM, it should find the correct LNB automatically after reset.

I can not see Ka signal

Are you sure you selected the slim5 in setup? If not repeat setup. Are you using BBC's?

    Gameplan

I'm not sure as to your question, but be warned. If you live in the state of Alabama, it will be blacked out on the regular gameplan channel. You will still have to pay for the PPV.

DTV has gone insane-24 month for changing programming???

I always thought that an adanced receiver, ie. HD, or DVR, triggered the 24 month commitment. But just today, I was on the phone making changes to a potential customer's account. She was wanting to add 1 standard receiver. The work order only had 1 standard receiver. The rep told the potential...

    D12-500 is dead

How do you have it attached to the TV? Are you sure the TV's on the right channel/input? I hate asking this, but you'd be surprised at how many service calls are resolved this way.

    no signal on some tpn

At one time, several years ago, there were no spot beams. In other words, if you lived in ...anywhere, and reported a NY address, you would get all the NY locals. Then came spot beams. All but the 4 major networks were lost for anyone that fell outside of the footprint. When were you able to...

WB-68 Switch with 18" Dish Only?

They're keeping a tight control on WB68's in my area. I usually cascade 2 3x4's.

WB-68 Switch with 18" Dish Only?

Has anyone actually tried this? The WB68 switch is designed for a KAKU dish, not the original 18" dish. The WB68 switch usually needs 4 inputs, not 2. Not saying it wouldn't work, but I've never seen it.

    HD Channels lost

I use the bird dog meter. It works well. New they go for about $500, but you can find used ones on Ebay for much less.

    HD Channels lost

The 99 and 103 s are spotbeams, meaning it's normal to have low signals on many transponders. However the c's are national, and it looks like you are way low, especially on the 99. After a proper alignment, you should have at a minimum, mid 80's, and many of us have 90's on those sats...

    Install Verifcation Failed

Put a SWM splitter directly behind the receiver. Cable from outside to red input, output to BBC, BBC to receiver. After successfully activating, you can take the SWM splitter out.

    Do I need a BBC for a HR20-100s Receiver?

You are correct. I missed the SWM part. So no BBC's are needed. You will need the power inserter, and a SWM splitter.

Is there any definitive news re DirecTiVo HD?

LOL, No one's seen the new ones yet.

I was lied to by Directv!

I'm a tech, and it's common to get work orders wrong. We even have a special phone number to correct work orders. In this case, I can't say if the original tech could have got his work order changed, or not, thereby making sure he got paid to install all three DVR's. It's a screwed up...

    Do I need a BBC for a HR20-100s Receiver?

Yes, every HD receiver has to have the BBC, except for the 23 series, unless it is a SWM installation.

tried to take dish camping "note tried"

Yes, it should work. Next time try moving the dish further in each direction. If that doesn't work, try a different elevation by one degree and try again. Then go the other way with elevation. You might want to pick up a round dish, much easier to point.
