Can I get my local HD channels with my old Voom box?

Hi! Since the demise of VOOM my Motorola HD receiver has been sitting around collecting dust. When V was still alive, they installed this big powerful antenna on my roof and I was able to pick up not only my local HD's but stations quite far away. Is there any way I can still get my local...

Ten Million HDTV's in U.S. homes!!! And VOOM only got 40,000 subscribers

The "Now he loves us lol" post on page one says: "With HDTVs now in more than 10 million U.S. homes" So who's source is right? I have no idea where that post got it's figures from. Just like I don't know where you got yours. Tell you what - go out and count them and then report back. :D...

Ten Million HDTV's in U.S. homes!!! And VOOM only got 40,000 subscribers??? I don't know who to be more pissed at. VOOM for doing a poor marketing job, Chuckie's son and the Cablevision board for having shortsightedness or 9,960,000 bozos for not signing on to VOOM????? Maybe someone...

If Charter Communications Is Available In Your Area-Read This

2008??? Wow!!! That really does suck. As far a Time not being able to compete, I believe that's the same everywhere. One cable company per town, which I certainly agree is certainly bogus. But then again, I guess that's the contract the town agreed to.

If Charter Communications Is Available In Your Area-Read This

I frankly don't know what all the excitement is about with Dish. Personally, I'd only watch about 3 of those channels, but then that's just me. If you're not tied to a long-term contract with another provider, read on to see the deal I got with Charter Communications. Sidenote: I noticed a...

    Help With Ota!!

Disconneted the box last night and reconnected today. I get the voom screen but that's it. I disconnected my OTA cable (separate cable-not split) from the box and connected it directly to my tv but it won't pull in my locals. This is a very good ($250-$300) antenna that Voom installed. I...

It's Official - VOOM ON DISH NETWORK!

Make that four. Guess you didn't read my post on page 5. I have Charter Communications Cable. They gave me a Scientific Atlanta Explorer 8000HD 160GB high-def two-tuner receiver (real nice too) and they waived the $10/month rental fee for a minimum of 12 months along with a $25/month credit to...

It's Official - VOOM ON DISH NETWORK!

Just curious. Are there some cable providers that require a commitment? Mine doesn't but all the satellite providers that I know of do.

It's Official - VOOM ON DISH NETWORK!

QUOTE:“DISH Network further establishes itself as the leader in high-definition TV.” "The addition of these original channels makes the DISH Network high definition package the best in the pay-TV industry." Best my arse. Dish and all the others still suck! I frankly don't know what all...

    Farewell Voom And Hello Charter

I just posted this and it wound up in Customer Comments. I really don't know how to use these forums. I would appreciate if anyone would move this post for me to whatever forum they feel is appropriate. Thanks!!! Accepting the fact that I'm loosing VOOM made me feel like I did when my...

    Voom should enable OTA permanently!

Regarding the OTA's, perhaps I'm reading a lot of the posts incorrectly but it seems that many of you are concerned about continuing to receive local digital broadcasts. The antenna is just that -an antenna! Just connect it to your tv and you'll pick up your locals. Naturally you won't have...

DVD Recorders: Who's using them with Voom?

Don't know much about Tivo but what I do know (unless things have changed) is that you CANNOT edit out commercials as you can with many, if not all DVD recorders (Like my Toshiba RD-XS32). :)

DVD Recorders: Who's using them with Voom?

I have a Toshiba RD-XS32. Still reading the manual to figure out how it works so I have no comment at this time. Read customer opinions at epinions.com. Great detailed reviews!

    Voom Info commercial on G4TV

Makes perfect sense to me. Why would they advertise on a Voom channel? They would want to advertise on other sat/cable channels to hopefully get people to switch. ;)

    Voom Dvr

dvr cost Just called VOOM and got put on the list for the dvr. The CSR said the cost has not been determined yet but he thought it would be about $5 per month and that you are not "locked" into any commitment by being put on the list; i.e. you can refuse it when it becomes available. :)

    Voom Dvr

Guess I'm missing the point about the "upcoming" VOOM dvr. Why not just go out and buy a dvr. I just bought a nice Toshiba RD-XS32 w/ 80GB HD at Costo.com for $440. Can't wait till I figure out how to use it. I almost bought one with TiVo but decided not to because you can't edit out...
