    2 510's - 2 dvr fees?

VOD fee is per receiver So it will be $10 (actually $9.98) per month per receiver unless you're on the AEP.

    Pvr 510

Are you AEP? If you're an AEP subscriber, you'll be able to provision it with no problem and no extra cost except for the normal receiver fee. If you're not, you'll have to pay an additional $4.98 per month on top of the receiver fee for the bs VOD fee.

Dish-Well, no new HD, see ya

Not just Comcast in Detroit In SW PA, Adelphia HD is certainly at least equal if not a bit better than E* most certainly. Of course, you can really only compare on a few channels because there isn't much there on E*. In fact, it's pretty much just HDNet and DiscHD. I can't really compare CBS...

    Has Charlie Bought the Farm?

The main reason HD hasn't grown is that there is so little sat and cable coverage. Unfortunately, a huge amount of the country can't get HD via OTA due to environmentals and geographic constraints. Fortunately, cable has rapidly risen to the task and is adding HD content pretty rapidly -...

    Has Charlie Bought the Farm?

Um.... No More and more cable providers are delivering locals in HD. As a result, I'd guess that cable is now providing a greater percentage of locals with respect to new users than OTA. Also, the fact that HD/SD transmissions for locals come in from multiple directions (azimuths) means...

Scott - What's your feeling on the 921 OTA Guide

Let's not forget the reliability issue My 921 used to work great. So long, that is, as I never, ever tried to use OTA. Then it was the single most unreliable electronics device I can remember in recent history. Lockups galore, audio dropouts, missed recordings, etc

Dish-Well, no new HD, see ya

Good for you. I guess you don't give a crap about anyone else then.
  8. W

    First HD Question

Are you sure it's the power? Are they on the same azimuth? I mean, could other environmentals be the culprit? Whoops - you said they were didn't you. Well, 3.6kw does seem pretty low.

Dish-Well, no new HD, see ya

Sorry, but no No ranting. Just will continue to at least try and dispell not entirely correct info. There ought to be at least some sort of balanced picture. All I see lately is that when people don't agree with some Dish proponents, they get trashed. Not looking for perfection, and will be...

Which DVR was that? You had one that used MS MediaCenter? Who made it?

Dish-Well, no new HD, see ya

Sorry I personally wish that prior to me investing yet more money into dish for the 921, more people had been open and honest so I could have made a more educated decision. I did get some good feedback here. Unfortunately, I believed too many people who were "OK with the problems" and thought...

Dish-Well, no new HD, see ya

Why can't some people just look at facts instead of emotion? Crap statement at the end? My own unique circumstance? There's nothing unique about the lack of HD content on Dish. There is nothing unique about OTA broadcasts - they're relatively consistent in terms of bitrate. There is...

    Game over for me guys...

You should buy a 921 then People who complain about problems with Dishnet equipment are often immediately criticized because they want it "perfect". I have no idea why that keeps happening. There is a FAR stretch between working properly, and reliably, and perfection. Example: Let's...

Dish-Well, no new HD, see ya

Did you READ my post? The part where it says it varies by location? One thing I've noticed around here is that apparently it's not OK to criticize Dish for anything. Slam cable all you want - but NO - don't upset the Dish fanatics! Look, I've given Dish credit where credit is due...

Dish-Well, no new HD, see ya

Maybe to show some unbiased information???? Maybe you ought to read the last part of my post? You know, the part where it says "It really does vary by location."

    HD OTA in Pittsburgh

Unfortunately probably not I live in the Peters Township area. I've found attic mount setups to not be very functional - plus you've got varied azimuths to get to. One group is at around 15-19deg, another is around 29deg and one more at 99deg. I'm about 12.5 miles from any of them, and have...

Scott - What's your feeling on the 921 OTA Guide

I'm not Scott, but it's already been going on 14 months. If I were a betting man (well, I guess I was. I returned my 921).

Dish-Well, no new HD, see ya

You're smoking crack To say Dish has the best HD PQ is really funny!!! First of all, of the three flavors I've tried (at the same time) OTA was the best Adelphia cable was the second best Dish was slightly worse than Adelphia. However, you also need to add to that the fact that Dish...

    Game over for me guys...

Analog really depends on provider/locale As well as the cable head-end, your internal cable plant, etc. On my own 46" HD DLP, analog from cable actually looks better in a lot of cases than SD via Dish. So, it really depends on exactly where you're at. In other places, analog looks horrible.

    First HD Question

Most SD/HD transmissions are lower power Remember, lower power requirements for SD or HD broadcast. Every one of my HD signals is being broadcast at far lower power. The problem is truly geography (rolling hills and trees).
  21. W

    First HD Question

But not with HD I'm comparing HD bitrates. Not SD. So, the channels I was talking about were complete 16.9 or so mb/s on that specific channel - the subchannel. That seems to be pretty constant. Of course, that's just here.

Cable Picture Quality vs. Dish Network Quality

Yes, there are more factors. It does indeed also depend on the quality of the equipment at your head end. Things like how old the lasers are, etc. Lots of factors. The only way to really know is to take a look. The one thing for sure, however, is that the quality of the cable in your home...

    921 or 942

Wait. If you want to use 3 tuners period - do not buy the 921. If you don't need OTA, go for it. It really works great assuming you don't need OTA (also meaning you don't need networks in HD)
  24. W

    First HD Question

Hmmm.... Distance is only one factor. Remember, geography (both natural and man made) also plays a huge part. I'm only 12.5 miles from all my local transmitters, but there are some that are more of a problem than others. In my area, 35 miles would absolutely prevent HD/SD via OTA. DVDDAD...

Cable Picture Quality vs. Dish Network Quality

What Adelphia area? I'm in the Pgh area. I had Dish, with HD. A basic synopsis is: 1) HD: Adelphia had better HD PQ, but not by much. OTOH, in my area they've got almost twice as much content. 2) SD: Absolutely not a bit of difference. Actually in some cases Adelphia seems to be...
