Any chance at all for 58W 4160H on a mini-BUD? Has anyone been successful?

You and me both. I watch some NHK daily. In Arkansas, satbeams says you need a 130 cm dish for the C-band tp. From this and from what others are saying, I'd give it a try if I were you. For me, supposedly I need a 250 cm C-band dish. So it could be tough for me without a big dish. Their signal...

Are you trying to receive NHK Japan? This is what's on 58W at 4160 MHz. If so, it's a lot easier to receive on 103W at 12145 MHz using a Ku-band dish. Sent from my SM-G950W using the SatelliteGuys app!

    Telstar 12 Vantage from Miami

Reports are this normally encrypted mux on 15W Ku band is temporarily in the clear. You could receive with a 30- or 36- inch dish in Miami and universal LNB. I am too far north to check. Maybe somebody in the southeastern US could check and confirm for you. Sent from my SM-G950W using the...

    Height of Geosynchronous Satellite

Some good points. My original intent was only to understand "approximately" if the heavy storms would have an effect. We all know they do. I see today even worse storms across Nebraska, Kansas and further south. Yet local weather here is sunny & clear. Makes me wonder if orienting my dish...

    Height of Geosynchronous Satellite

That is factored in on dishpointer. My latitude is 44.7 N. The true elevation for my dish at this location is 11.2 degrees. I will stop trying to do this trigonometric calculation since I agree with brct203 that it is more complicated than I first considered. Sent from my SM-G950W using the...

    Height of Geosynchronous Satellite

I think I get your point. My explanation would be correct if the Earth was flat. Since the Earth is curved, this is why the tangent at my location is not the tangent at the location below the satellite at the equator. Sent from my SM-G950W using the SatelliteGuys app!
