DIRECTV Satellite is not currently available for new customers in your area

Yep. Most folks in my neck of the woods switched to Starlink a few years ago. Then Spectrum Fiber expanded to this area and now even the Starlink dishys are disappearing. I'm one of the few hold outs as I kept my Starlink equipment as a fail over to Spectrum, which experiences frequent outages...

DIRECTV Satellite is not currently available for new customers in your area

Satellite TV is not available in my rural area of Western NC, only streaming.

    Echostar prepares potential bankruptcy filing

True. There is so much content these days but very little of it catches my interest.

    Echostar prepares potential bankruptcy filing

Did I ever state I hated Dish? I was a Dish customer for nearly 15 years and was very satisfied with the service. I only cancelled when I got in on the Starlink beta and realized I didn't need Dish anymore.

    Echostar prepares potential bankruptcy filing

My neighbor has no interest in the internet. We got Spectrum fiber in our neck of the woods last year and he only had it for a few months before he cancelled.

    Echostar prepares potential bankruptcy filing

Correct. He's really only interested in the major network stations and a few of their sub channels.

He's fortunate in that he can point the antenna between 2 hillsides directly to a repeater tower 40 miles away. I am not so fortunate due to the location of my home.

    Echostar prepares potential bankruptcy filing

My 82 year old neighbor got fed up with the high cost of everything. He cancelled Dish and his Spectrum internet and put up a Televes antenna on his roof that gives him about 50 channels. His monthly cost for entertainment? A grand total of zero dollars.

    Echostar prepares potential bankruptcy filing

Both DTV and Dish are bleeding customers and cash. I don't see how either will be around in the next few years.

    Echostar prepares potential bankruptcy filing

There are dozens of other MVNOs that offer way better value than Boost.

    LOL. Boost is a joke.

TV streaming box - best ones?

I've had an Nvidia Shield Pro since it launched in 2019 and it's hands down the best streaming device I've ever owned. Still as fast and snappy today as it was when it was new.

    Question about the Zapperbox

I think I'm going to reset the box to factory settings when I get home. It is connected to the internet but it keeps telling me it's not when I check for an update.

    Question about the Zapperbox

    Question about the Zapperbox

I'm at work right now so I can't check. My Zapperbox is connected to the internet though and I thought that would decode the DRM.

    Question about the Zapperbox

Just bought a Zapperbox M2 to try it out and it does give me a few more channels than my Mediasonic Homeworx tuner. My question is that the ATSC 3.0 channels have a blue key next to them and only show a black screen when I tune to them. Is that the DRM encryption? I thought the Zapperbox would...

    RIP DSL Reports

It appears to be read only except for 5 minutes after every hour. I'm guessing the site is on its last legs. Many users have moved over to broadbandbulletin.com.

    YoutubeTV 2025 price increase

Ridiculous. YTTV is now more than double the price from when it first launched. No wonder so many people have decided to say the hell with it and sail the high seas instead.

Charter claims they are going to provide better pricing

I got to enjoy Spectrum Fiber for about a year before Hurricane Helene destroyed the entire infrastructure in my area of Western NC. I've been out since 9/27 and they have no time frame as to when service will be restored. Good thing I kept my Starlink!

    Dish Price Increases (2024-25)

Good luck with that. The Tablo 4th generation is total garbage. I've tried 2 of them and they both lasted about a week before they stopped connecting to my network. I kept having to reset them to factory settings. Both went back for a refund.

EchoStar/Dish raises doubts about 'ability to continue as a going concern'

I turned it off and reactivate my Starlink service as needed. My area is no longer at capacity since fiber came last year.

EchoStar/Dish raises doubts about 'ability to continue as a going concern'

Starlink is very reliable. I've had it since beta and kept it as a backup even though I now have fiber. So far my fiber has had more outages in a year than I had with Starlink in 3 and a half years.

EchoStar/Dish raises doubts about 'ability to continue as a going concern'

Amazon will probably never be a viable competitor to Starlink. Project Kuiper has only launched 2 prototype satellites and those have already been decommissioned. The only way they're going to be able to start doing regular launches is with SpaceX rockets and Bezos isn't about to ask Elon for help.
