Signal protector is not available on all channels; if you have the option turned on, and the system detects that the satellite signal has been lost on a channel that has a streaming option, and your internet connection is stable, it will switch to streaming. Hopper Plus is definitely not needed...

I ran into a lot of issues with the 40.0 remote on the Hopper plus, all of them, EXCEPT the aspect ratio issue, were resolved by using the 54.0 remote. For the most part I have noted that the Hopper+ automatically selects the correct aspect ratio correction, but it doesn't always get it right...

H+ is the only box I've seen the issue on… have not touched a J5 or J4 yet though.

Dish switched to a proprietary modulation a while back on all transponders that I know of, so if your meter isn’t made for it, you’ll never get a lock on the meter, but at least you can get the signal strength.

This would be nice. Looks like the H+ just gets it right on most channels, but there are a few in which it would still come in handy.

You would need an HDMI splitter, ATSC modulator/encoder (such as the MUL-HDENC-C-100), attenuator pads, and some coax to go to the OTA input port on your 722. Doable, but expensive and totally not worth it. USB won’t be involved.

This happens at my mom's house a lot because her internet connection drops and the HWS doesn't like it (she refuses to allow her bad cable internet drop to be replaced...) Restoring the streaming channels without waiting a long time or doing a reboot is as simple as going to the tech settings...

The DPH42 switch should be used with DP or DPP LNBFs, not DPH, it’s on page 5 of the DPH42 manual. Personally I’d ditch the multi switch and just use the hybrid duo hub, this will be a simpler setup because you won’t need the power inserter anymore, and there’s never a need for 2 wing dishes...

my thoughts exactly... Ideally the signal should be around 0 dBmV by the time it hits the OTA tuner's coax input... Looks like the OTA tuner on my hopper 2 starts acting up when the signal consistently exceeds +23 dBmV, which is a helluva lot of signal... The lowest signal I reliably pull in on...

Would be useful to know which channels are missing so we can have an idea of which sat and transponder they're on... are they showing up in the guide at all? if so which on screen message do you get when you try to switch to them?

And 148. Are both the original SuperDISH FSS slots (105 and 122) still active? Or are they down to one yet?

Assuming you were trying to upgrade to a leased Joey 4? If you had a purchased one, I doubt the CSRs would care and would simply activate it.

There are still loads of them around here in ENC in Mediacom Cable (former TCI Communications) territory; apparently they sold PrimeStar services to areas that were going to take them a long time to build out their cable plant on... Guess the plan worked.

Not terribly related, but today when running a check switch today after reaiming my former 118.7 dish over to 72.7, I was amused when my Hopper2 correctly identified that I totally misaimed and hit the 82 satellite instead… 😂
