I wouldn't switch the CEC off. You want them to go on and off together. You don't want the Gemini to be on all the time. If it never gets put in standby (lights off), it never can receive any software updates.

I find them very bulky. I usually go back to a very thin case with a small raised lip to protect the screen when set flat.
