    Cold weather signal loss

25 year old. Do you mind posting a pic of it? (If you can see it well). I haven't seen the new "Dish 500" and I'm curios what it looks like.

    Cold weather signal loss

Talking about the new 500? They don't need 3 positions anymore, at least on WA, so being back to 110/119 it's back to 500 as all the dish that is needed, but they're now offering a new twin (beyond the HDD Twin) for the hopper era. I say "offering," but I think they're thus far restricting it to...

    Cold weather signal loss

Parabolic reflectors haven't changed much since Heinrich Hertz first used one to demonstrate the existence of radio waves in 1888. The LNBF set they hung on it is a whole different story.

    Cold weather signal loss

Well, Dish put up a whole new dish today. Basically a 500. Twenty year old technology. We'll see how it goes.

I used radial-taper crimping, which could possibly be considered compressive as it leaves a seamless, tapered crimp that resists moisture intrusion if has o-ring.. Most others were using some kind of multi-part fitting with a plastic center. I don't even know what to call those. Compression?

    Kia EV9

Haven't really followed the miles per kWh lately, but charged to 90% last night. Had to go out of town for a bit this morning. 50F and minimal wind, 93 miles round trip. About 80 of it on the highway at 75-80mph. Avg 2.8 miles/kWh. Turned 9400 miles on it today after 14 months.

    Verizon buying Frontier

I removed a post here where I claimed that my Metronet (marketed as T-Mobile Fiber) system used Wave Division Multiplexing to provide for multiple homes on a fiber. That was based on a mistaken idea that I had formed based on previous experiences in data networking before I retired. In...

Happy New Year! The future of SatelliteGuys

Hiding the forum does not seem to keep the new threads/video links from appearing in the "Latest posts" box to the right of the screen and it's those links that are misleading. You glance over and see what appears to be something interesting to read and discuss so you click on it only to find...
