Paper submission will probably always be an option. IIRC, it is the free federal self-e-filing that is under pressure to be eliminated. In any case, the PDF forms for online filing aren't yet available (assuming they become available to individual taxpayers).

Me either and it feels like a common refrain with this author, after watching 4 seasons and counting of Bosch. Feels like every season is 'Bosch is the bad guy' in some form or the other before ultimately proving otherwise. Gray areas and going too far on occasion - sure - but often overplayed...
