    OTA broadcast looks the best for 1080 content as they are not usually compressed. With a old fta receiver you are only getting 480 resolution.     What has helped me in the past is to blindscan the sat you have a strong signal on and find out what bird your pointed at. If you find some channels you can use TheList on this site or lyngsat to determine which sat it is, if the receiver doesn't tell you. Once you know which satellite your...

    I would tell my friends that fta is a great hobby. Finding backhaul feeds, sport feeds can be alot of fun. A few extra channels over subscription cable or satellite. What got me interested in FTA was being able to find sport and network feeds and a few more HD channels can`t hurt.
