AT&T explores Direct TV sale again

What magic does ATSC 3.0 do about distance from a broadcast station? Either you or I is misunderstanding what ATSC 3.0 brings to the table, but methinks you are incorrect. :)

AT&T explores Direct TV sale again

I did some searching about their growth and the only articles I could find were with statements from Orby itself. Since it is a private company there doesn’t seem to be anyone really looking at them from outside the company.

    Cinemax GO

They have a limited free subscription level and it works just fine that way.

    Cinemax GO

I respect that even if I don’t agree. Both HBO Max and Peacock are services you pay for and in my mind I’ll use them on any device I can make them work. So on my FireTV Cube I have all the streaming services I use including Peacock and HBO Max.

    Cinemax GO

Enough people thought that to cause a few articles to explain that it didn’t. It was just another naming screwup by AT&T.

    Cinemax GO

Nope, and it was reported in some articles about the then upcoming HBO Max. What was said was that there would be no more new originals. Since then at least one original is getting a 2nd season.

    Sick of the Disputes

Yep, and cable/sat providers should be able to charge for the actual cost to provide those local channels without the additional fees that the locals want to charge. The locals all got their license for a free, ad-supported service.

streaming services raising rates dropping channels

While reruns are the majority of content these days, that is an anomaly because of the shutdowns. There would normally be much more original programming otherwise. Of course, reruns will continue to dominate the daytime programming. IMO, these days, because of so little original programming it...

Dish Reports a Record Loss of 413,000 Video Subscribers for Q1

Air2 will work with AppleTV it just doesn’t integrate with the Sling app like it does on other platforms. Uses its own app instead.

Dish Reports a Record Loss of 413,000 Video Subscribers for Q1

Well, not the most expensive no matter what you add. ATT TV pretty much has that title locked down!! :) But yeah, the lack of broadcast is a negative for Sling. Depending on what you want to watch you pretty much have to use a couple other services to fill in some gaps. That means app switch...

    Channel Request OAN

That’s why I don’t bother with them, too much noise on all the 24/7 news channels. There are much better ways to get the actual news and well sourced opinon pieces.

    What's with MyDish?

If they were $1.20 per month I would too, but it has been a very long time since they were that cheap on any cable/sat provider.

    Channel Request OAN

Might as well add OAN to the list of ‘news’ channels. It is slanted far right but so what? It isn’t like the other news channels aren’t slanted quite a ways too. But if you want actual news and well sourced stories with the sources listed and/or quoted, you aren’t going to find them on any of...

Dish trying to get Disney to kick back some ESPN fees

Not likely as Disney is as hardheaded and Charlie when it comes to contracts.

    Viacom/Dish Dispute Forthcoming?

Yep, Viacom did get hammered last time. Caused by them not really having any ‘must have’ channels IMO.

    PQ D!SH vs Netflix

Yes, YouTube dropped to SD. YouTubeTV and others have not.

Dish Customer Service not like the old days.

I’m using TP-Link Deco M5 Mesh system. Great coverage over all bands throughout the house. Pricing is usually very good too.

DTV calling it quits (more or less)

Nice term! :). What the heck does that mean?

DTV calling it quits (more or less)

Heck, it’s cheaper to get it a year, cancel and pay the ETF. I had thought to do just that. Get the Entertainment level @$50, pay the ETF at the end of a year and see what has jelled by then in the streaming world. That would make the effective rate $65/month. But then I thought, why...
