AT&T exploring Deal to sell off DIRECTV.

Sports are a bit of a bugaboo for streaming, that will change over time I suspect. If I were a big sports fan, or actually if I cared at all about sports, I’d still be on cable or sat.

AT&T exploring Deal to sell off DIRECTV.

Yeah, data caps are an issue for many. For me I had to bump up my level to get enough data to support full time streaming. Cost was $10/month more. EDIT: But for me streaming gives me more flexibility and at a lower cost overall. Not as significant as I had initially thought it would because...

AT&T exploring Deal to sell off DIRECTV.

And that’s difficult how? I’ve been doing that for years, including those years I had cable/sat. You probably have too. Netflix, Hulu and others have been around for years with big subscription levels. Going all streaming just changes how many just a bit more.

AT&T exploring Deal to sell off DIRECTV.

Maybe so, maybe not. It is all about the contracts. I can see no reason a contract couldn’t be made to allow recording of a stream. Not easy to accomplish but certainly not impossible.

AT&T exploring Deal to sell off DIRECTV.

Mediacom started their Docsis 3.1 in 2016 and I found plenty of articles from local news sources about their gigabit service. So you made the claim they don’t have it everywhere they are, so prove it.

DirecTV ditches cheapest plan for new subscribers

I just read another article that claims Sinclair is buying the AT&T RSNs that AT&T has been trying to peddle for quite some time. Makes me wonder if that isn’t part of whatever deal was struck.

AT&T exploring Deal to sell off DIRECTV.

Yep, the losses weren’t what all the doom and gloom types wanted us all to believe. First, HBO. Why in the world would anyone want just HBO when HBO Max has more and cost the same? I suppose those with no or poor internet access would. And sports? Well that’s mostly RSNs as the national sports...

    Bankers Predicting Sale of DTV

Dish nor any other provider pays for those channels, you do as a subscriber. Just how high would you like your bill to be? :)

Looks like they came down on the price of HBO with the addition of HBOmax

My daughter has that same problem. Using ViaSat now and today was the first time they tried and failed at watching streaming video.

Looks like they came down on the price of HBO with the addition of HBOmax

Glad you’ve got cheap fast internet. Around here the choice is not quite so cheap OR fast, not both! :) As to cable, well I was using them until a bit earlier this year. Was just fine with them, good PQ and AQ, good channel selection and all at a fair price. Then the bundling contract finished...

Looks like they came down on the price of HBO with the addition of HBOmax

Yep, the HBO Max service is just fine. PQ/AQ is as good or better than other streaming services. And considering that HBO Max costs the same as just HBO, it is a relative bargain if you thing HBO is something you value.

    The end of Directv

It is and is what I do with all sales people unless I am actually interested in what they are pushing. Works every time. I don’t owe them any explanation or reason for not being interested.

Looks like they came down on the price of HBO with the addition of HBOmax

Actually hadn’t noticed any appreciable 4K content on Hulu, but I’ll stand corrected. I watch current series as they occur though I have watched a few on Netflix the next year, which is when they show up. Both shows you mention do look better in 4K, but the difference is so slight to my eyes...

Looks like they came down on the price of HBO with the addition of HBOmax

So Hulu is a failure? And the vast majority of streaming apps/services don’t do 4K. I’m not sure that the vast majority of Netflix’s originals are in 4K though plenty are. All that said, while 4K is great, all too many shows/movies don’t really benefit much from it compared to good upscaling of...

Not for HBO Max. ATT TV’s app just got back on Roku though.

Looks like they came down on the price of HBO with the addition of HBOmax

HBO Max actually launched with no actual issues other than communication about who/how would get it. A bit of confusion there for sure. But it all worked fine. As to 4K, I believe ATT said it wouldn’t have 4K at launch, so that’s not yet a legitimate failure at launch as it wasn’t supposed to...

Looks like they came down on the price of HBO with the addition of HBOmax

The timing on the launch was announced all over the place and rumored well before that. So no, it wasn’t brought out early. And on those devices it is available on, it works quite well. Good UI, lots of content above what HBO had though there are some holes in them here and there. All at the...

Looks like they came down on the price of HBO with the addition of HBOmax

I know that the Criterion Collection is supposedly in the service, but they don’t have it as an identified collection. Or if they do, I sure couldn’t find it.

Maybe because they want HBO and HBO Max gives you all of that and much more for the same cost.

    The end of Directv

I’m on 200/20 and it is more than I need. Only bumped to that speed as data caps are tiered with my provider.
