    Repaired My AM21N Today

The AM21N I just did was about 5" x 7". I don't remember the size on the AM21 I did 3 years ago but maybe it was a little larger. It definitely had some different caps around the tuner section enclosure.

    Repaired My AM21N Today

Yep. This is the second one I have repaired with caps. The first one was an older AM21 that had a couple of bulging caps. Fixed that one back in 2017 and it is still working.

    Repaired My AM21N Today

My AM21N started giving me the Local Channel Connector (LCC) Not Detected error. After fruitless attempts to get Directv to send me an LCC kit, I decided to crack the AM21N open and have a look. I noticed that the large capacitor C2507 had a little bit of crustiness on the base around the...

    Repaired My AM21 Today

It has been a long time since I have posted here but I wanted to share this for anyone who may have a "dead" AM21 off-air tuner. My AM21 stopped working and the HR24 display showed both off-air tuners as "removed". Tried resetting, different USB cable, etc. but no joy. I decided to crack open...

    SWM Question

Well I am a happy camper. The HR34 is installed and working with my AT9 and SWM8, I maintained my grandfathered package with the DVR fee included in the base package, and no Whole Home/MRV charges. The installer did look at my dish and said he was surprised it worked.

    SWM Question

Most of my transponders are 95 or higher but a few are 93 and 94. I have never had a signal issue since installing the AT9 back in 2005. I'll post the results tomorrow.

    SWM Question

Well a Directv tech support guy convinced me I would be able to maintain my grandfathered package so I pulled the trigger. They will be out tomorrow. Should be quick and easy as I already installed an SWM8 and they should be able to swap the HR34 for one of my HR24s. Fingers crossed...

    SWM Question

Has anyone here been able to upgrade to an HR34 and still maintain their grandfathered package?

    SWM Question

I was already talking to Customer Advocate Team and even they couldn't verify that I wouldn't lose my grandfathered package.

    SWM Question

Oh well, this isn't going to happen anyway. DirecTV could not guarantee I would maintain my package with the DVR fee included if I get this receiver deal. I'll just stick with what I have for now. Thanks everyone for your input.

    SWM Question

Wow if that's true this IV Retest thing is stupid. I have never had a signal issue since I installed the AT9 7 years ago. I still get signal readings in the high 90s to 100 on every satellite and I have never had to re-tweak it.

    SWM Question

Hmm. Yeah I really don't want those guys messing with my dish - maybe I'll just get a SWM8 & power injector from ebay and do it myself. Then they can come install just the receiver.

    SWM Question

I know they can do that on a Slimline - I didn't think they made a SWiM LNB for the old AT9s.

    SWM Question

The AT9 has always worked perfectly since I installed it and tweaked it years ago (2005). I just don't see a need to change the dish out when I could just add the SWM8.

    SWM Question

Right - I don't care about sharing programming between the boxes so I will do that. You mentioned replacing the LNB instead of using a SWM8 - can they do that with an AT9 dish (not a Slimline) or will they have to replace the whole dish? I would rather use the SWM8 than change out the dish.

    SWM Question

Thanks. I already have ethernet hard wired to my receivers so I shouldn't need the CCK. When you say "Connect to the 34", what do you mean?

    SWM Question

I have a first generation AT9 dish and have never used SWM. I have 2 HR24s and 2 AM21s. DirecTV is giving me an HR34 (replacing 1 of the HR24s) and installation including the necessary SWM equipment if I sign up for two more years. My question is, which SWM equipment will I need? I will have 1...

Need some one to check my work

If there is no .40 tick mark like on the Chaparral feed then yes, measure .20" (1/5") up from the feed throat to the bottom of the scalar ring.

Need some one to check my work

If I recall correctly the Unimesh 7.5 has an f/d ratio of .40 so that would be the scalar ring setting and the focal distance is 36" to about 1/4" into the feedhorn throat.
