Dish 54 voice remote input button

Does this button work on Joey 3's? When I push this button (on the side of the remote), I get an error: "This is not an active feature". On the H3 itself, it's like half the recall button. This error happens on the J3 54 even after I push the TV button on the side. I need this button because...

    SiriusXM Streaming on Alexa devices

I can listen to the Spa Channel online, and it shows what it's playing. Right now, they are playing John Gregorius's The Expansive Sky. I can see what they're playing in my car. I can see what they're playing on my Dish Network receiver (though they don't carry the Spa Channel). I cannot...

The name "20th Century Fox Television" is no more

Disney (DIS) announced on Monday it would be rebranding one of its TV studios, 20th Century Fox Television, as 20th Television. Why why why?

    Echostar Knowledge Base

I was trying to remember some historical information on old Dish receivers, and I discovered that the ekb is now hosted here: The Echostar Knowledge base on DBSTalk. Despite the title at left, the actual URL goes to Satelliteguys.us. But what I see when I click on many (if not all) of the...

    Thread auto update feature

This feature is driving me crazy on busy threads. I'm reading posts in the middle of a multi-page thread, and all of a sudden I have a bunch of auto-updated posts at the bottom of my page which don't belong there. They belong a page or two later on! So when I finally get up to the last page...

    Cosmos: Possible Worlds

Anybody watching this so-called 3rd season of Cosmos? I missed the start date and missed 2 episodes already. :(

    Joey 3 w/o MoCA

My wife surprised me today by moving our daughter's Joey into another bedroom without a coax. So I figured, "No problem", I'll just hook it up to GigE and I'm done for now. The Joey boots up and refuses to do anything; the error message says it can't see the Hopper. Unless I'm dreaming, the...

    Dumb robocopy problem

I'm trying to use robocopy to copy (with file protections) a folder on one disk to another disk on the same W10 computer. I can't get the stupid program to do anything! I have tried this from an admin command window: # robocopy "f:\My Old Directory" "e:\My New Directory" /copyall and the...

Google in discussions with Dish to launch new wireless giant

I don't know if this is true or not, but that's what this https://nypost.com/2019/07/07/google-joins-dish-network-in-talks-to-create-4th-mobile-carrier/ says.

Netflix and YouTube app no longer usable on Hopper 3

Both used to work. Now neither do. The picture disappears and the TV says "no video". This is true over HDMI to my Hisense 4K TV, and also via component to my Cielo HDTV. Am I the only one having this issue? Regular satellite and OTA channels and recorded programs work as they always did.

    Pb missing

I have a fairly new H3 with a fairly old Cielo TV hooked up to the Hopper's component outputs. Nobody has done anything to the configuration last week. But nevertheless, all of a sudden, it's all red and green. I can unplug the Pb cable from the TV, and nothing changes. I have done all the...

    More bizarre H3 behavior

My previous receivers were VIP DVRs which I would still own were it not for sabotage of the iVOD feature. With a VIP receiver, when you turn off the receiver, and later turned it back on again, it will start up on the channel it was last on. Not so, the H3. For some reason I cannot fathom, it...

Bizarre appearance of 3 local stations

I have an H3 using the AirTV dongle in the Washington D.C area. I just noticed 3 stations appear with a nonstandard (black) OTA symbol. They are not really OTA; they are delivered via satellite, despite the fact taht I do not sub to local satellite delivered channels. The stations are: 8-00...

    Joey connections

What do I get (or not, or mess up) if I have only moca connected, or only Ethernet connected, or both connected? What are the USB ports good for? Bluetooth? Wireless adapter?

    VIP612 Internet deafness

I am having issues keeping my VIP612 connected to the Internet. I can get it to grab another address via DHCP, but nobody can keep it online for long enough to stream or download a movie via DIsh iVOD, making this wired connection practically useless. When we try, it pops up the window saying...

    Total loss of signal

I'm seeing the following symptoms on at least 2 of my 3 receivers. Example: Smithsonian channel and nearby channels. I see a "total loss of signal" screen even though menu 6-1-1 shows green (around 20) on that transponder. This is on 61.5. Many other channels on 61.5 are fine. I started...

Scott, I've been a bad, bad boy!

I have purchased $hundreds off Amazon without thinking of the benefit I could bring to SG by coming here first. I just spent $62 on more computer memory for my daughter's new computer off Amazon, and then came here second. Argh! Is there a handy/dandy URL that I could put on my desktop and use...

Actual technology used on SiriusXM radios

Does anybody know what different car manufacturers use when they ship a SiriusXM radio? I am virtually certain that Chrysler uses Sirius technology. Hyundai reputedly uses XM technology. I can't seem to Google a comprehensive list since nowadays they all just say "SiriusXM" without specifying...

No room in window for sticky menus

Scott, I have a rather obscure request, whenever you can check on this. I love the sticky menus because they're always at the top, allowing me easily to Mark Forums Read. Now, when the browser window is too narrow to contain all menus, some of them disappear and are replaced with 3 dots on the...

    Roku vs Fire TV differences

I have a Roku SE and a Fire TV Stick with some annoying differences. IMHO the Roku has a much better interface, but it is slow. The Fire TV Stick is zippy, but the interface is inferior and the remote has few buttons. On the PBS app, just this afternoon I was trying to watch the last NOVA 2...
