DIRECTV Transponder Map ~ Data 2/28/2024

this won't br reflected in any new transponder map, unless this turns out to be permanent, But all National and local channels from D11 are off the air this morning.

DIRECTV Transponder Map ~ Data 2/28/2024

The purpose of the various uplink facilities is to create spatial diversity for the uplinks on spot beams, to allow frequency re-use. All local channels can be transmitted to any broadcast facility or uplink facility via DirecTVs massive fault tolerant counter rotating dual fiber optic ring.

DIRECTV Transponder Map ~ Data 2/28/2024

The ECUF has not had any function for DirecTV Domestic satellites since D7s was retired. None of the present fleet of satellites has an uplink receive beam pointed at the area of the ECUF. D8@119 only receives uplinks from The area around Los Angeles and Castle Rock. The only DirecTV...

DIRECTV Transponder Map ~ Data 2/28/2024

I can verify that the Spot Beam on Net 0 (101) TPN 28 beam RB02 for Raleigh no longer has any video or audio PIDs. The transponder is still transmitting carrying slow APG data PIDs required by SD only receivers. The signal that I receive here in ENC on TPN 18 (Nashville?) is the same. I am...

It is interesting that they also took down the Richmond and Roanoke channels on Net 3 (D8@119) TPN 31. They removed them from the Guide data, AND those PIDs are no longer in the transmitted stream.

Upgrade RV from H24-700 to HR54-500 Problem

Jimbo, do you just use the signal strength display on the Receiver? In my case, I am re-aiming a dish far from the receiver. But I have no experince with doing it with an RV. Does it take two people?

Upgrade RV from H24-700 to HR54-500 Problem

Unfortunately you would have to go through the dithering process with the ASL-1 each time you move it. With practice, after making sure the mount is vertical, pointing it with a compass, I can peak it up in 10 or 15 minutes with an ASL-1, but I only re-aim my dish once a year, now.

Upgrade RV from H24-700 to HR54-500 Problem

DirecTV made a device called an ASL-1 splitter for aiming a SWM LNB equipped dish when the SWM LNBs came out over 15 years ago. I have seen them available on Ebay and elsewhere. With it and any older signal strength meter (I use a cheap analog meter, under $20.00), using a method called...

DIRECTV Transponder Map ~ Data 2/28/2024

Thank you, Kyle for your summary of this massive change today. It is a lot of data changes. I'm still trying to get my head around it.

If you get all of the Philly local channels in HD now, then you should be good.

BTW, SD duplicates for the Harrisburg, York, etc. market were discontinued some time ago.

If you see that message, it would indicate that you have at least one SD only receiver, and possibly a SD only dish. In the next few months you will be losing your SD local channels. The tech will need to come to your home, replace the SD-only receiver(s) with HD capable ones and probably...

There was one last Wednesday on channel 9.9, that still remains. 9 is their CBS station.

DIRECTV Transponder Map ~ Data 2/28/2024

What I noticed last Thursday was that they added many additional INFO Guide entries for those markets. For instance for Columbus, they put SD INFO Guide entries on channels 4-9, 6-9, and 34-9. D9S has less than 6 months to live, so Ku band spot beams have to go away by then. Some DMAs...

You're right. These are showing up as new APG objects, I will have to figure out why.

DIRECTV Transponder Map ~ Data 2/28/2024

I noticed tonight as I was testing some software changes that new Guide INFO items are up for individual channels in Columbus OH, Indianapolis, Norfolk, Orlando, Salt Lake City, San Antonio, Tampa and Zanesville that say: "Act Fast! You will lose your local channels soon! Call 855-930-1640...

Help Identifying Transponder Numbers and Transmit Frequencies on Spectrum Analyzer

P.S. You might be able to improve the Ka band signals a bit by fine tuning the dish alignment. The dish alignment is much more critical at those Ka band frequencies.

Help Identifying Transponder Numbers and Transmit Frequencies on Spectrum Analyzer

You are comparing apples and oranges. The issue here is what the LNB does with certain combinations of tones and voltage. You are talking about what the DirecTV STB displays before and after It initializes with a different LNB on the dish. The type of LNB and what it can tune to is only set...

Help Identifying Transponder Numbers and Transmit Frequencies on Spectrum Analyzer

The Satellite Transponder Tables are the most comprehensive combination of FCC licensing data, matched to tuning data in the Network Information Table, with references to the Beam footprints, and comments on the beam locations. It hasn't been updated in over a year, only because nothing has...

Help Identifying Transponder Numbers and Transmit Frequencies on Spectrum Analyzer

This may help you correlate the TPN numbers to the frequencies on the coax (IF frequencies). Net 0 is 101W, 10 and 11 are on 99W, 14 and 15 are on 103. As for the others, Net 1 was 95W, 2 was 110W, 3 is 119, 12 and 13 are Reverse Band.

Help Identifying Transponder Numbers and Transmit Frequencies on Spectrum Analyzer

A DIRECTV receiver that knows that it is connected to that SL3 multiswitch would never try to tune to a Ku band transponder with the tone on.

Help Identifying Transponder Numbers and Transmit Frequencies on Spectrum Analyzer

You shouldn't be seeing 119 or 110 with that SL3 LNB. I have never looked at the signals from one of those. The two spectra look absolutely identical for the Ku band. Since it cannot switch to anything in the Ku band based on the tone, it looks like the internal multiswitch is just leaving...

Help Identifying Transponder Numbers and Transmit Frequencies on Spectrum Analyzer

Looking at the graph for 18V, tone on, You are seeing all 16 transponder LHCP frequencies in the North American DBS Band plan. You are getting the 16 licensed to DirecTV and Dish at 119, superimposed with offset ones from Dish at 110. (TPN 28 from 110 is on the IF frequency of TPN 8 of...

Help Identifying Transponder Numbers and Transmit Frequencies on Spectrum Analyzer

If you only provide 18V to the LNB, you will only get the LHCP transponders. There is no interaction. There is an internal multiswitch within the LNB, and each output is independent of the other. Each output can accept Any of the 4 combinations of tone and voltage. (Lines 5 and 6 of that...
