Adios VOOM...one more installation f**k story

And in closing I would like to say..... This has been a great forum. I've learned a lot. Unfortunately I stumbled upon it in between the time I ordered Voom and the actual installation. I figured the installation gaffes were mostly teething pains and I was confident it wouldn't happen to me...

Adios VOOM...one more installation f**k story

You're too kind. I'm not feeling it brother. The only thing good I can say about Voom is their risk free offer. If I had paid anything up front I would be livid. I'm good with being only disgruntled for free. I'm sure they've banged my Visa though for the first month. Now I'll have another...

Adios VOOM...one more installation f**k story

Read my original post. I never signed for anything. In the contract world one's signature expresses one's approval and acceptance of an agreement. Voom and I never got to the agreement stage. They agreed to give me a half ass installation. I agreed not to take it.

Adios VOOM...one more installation f**k story

Oh. Actually it is a PLASTIC piece of crap made in China. While adjusting it I heard something snap and noticed the connector was loose. I removed the bottom cover to see that the co-ax feed thru was only secured with a solder joint on the circuit board. No screws or nuts....just a crappy...

Adios VOOM...one more installation f**k story

Actually this is another reason my wife wants to ditch Voom. And add to that the blast of audio static on satellite channels I get on cloudy days. And yes to Mr Biggles. I did try to adjust the antenna without success (cheap piece of crap). And yes I could install a better one and do a...

Adios VOOM...one more installation f**k story

I guess my post must have gotten too wordy. In case it wasn't obvious....my annoyance is with the installation, the installer and the non responsive corporation. The installer walked out before I even had video for Christ sake. And had the nerve to ask for my signature! Complaining to VOOM...

Adios VOOM...one more installation f**k story

Had Voom installed last Friday. I have lots of open sky to the south so the satellite signal was real strong. All of my digital OTA stations are UHF and come from the same general WSW direction. The installer mounted the Stealth antenna right next to the dish and pointed it directly into my...

    New member who sees problems

USA Network? Do you mean the "Commercial Channel"? Most networks edit out twenty minutes of a two hour feature film and insert commercials. USA just adds another hour of commercials to make a three hour movie! It takes so long to watch a USA movie that an old geezer like me can forget how it...

    Soon to drop VOOM...

Yeah I did that. Bought a 15-2160 from RS. Better than the stealth but still not good enough. Got four channels good, three flakey and one not at all. I couldn't find a gain spec on the Rat Shak antenna. Salesman couldn't find one, nothing at their web site and nothing in the box. That...

Stealth antenna getting power from Motorola box?

The Stealth 3010 information I downloaded from Channel Master indicated the preamp is an optional circuit board that can be installed inside the antenna. Power to the preamp is back fed through the co-ax using a transformer and cable insertion device that does look like a splitter. I'm not...

    VOOM in Virginia.

Mike, Where in Hampton Roads? I'm in VaBeach. All of my local channels drop out (no sig) with the Stealth antenna.

    Soon to drop VOOM...

I won't bash you, I'm kinda having second thoughts too. I switched from Cox HD digital cable. My theory was that the satellite channel line up was comparable to Cox but their built-in ATSC receiver would bring in all my network feeds in HD. (Cox had only one, CBS). Since 70% of my veiwing is...

Will NE1 post their OTA signal level please?

I'm looking for the same channels all transmitting from the same direction (264 degrees). Guess I should quit screwing around with omnis and get me a good yagi. Just wanted to exhaust all my freebies from Voom.

Will NE1 post their OTA signal level please?

Okay thanks. I'm looking for someone 25-30 miles away.

Will NE1 post their OTA signal level please?

My satellite sig is 85. My OTA sig is 35-40. All digital UHF stations are dropping out. I need someone with no OTA problems to post a signal level so I'll know how far off I am. Remote refresher: Help, info, OK and then down arrow to System Status-Channel.

I think this is going to be a nightmare

Who is Joe Harkins? What is installs.com? My install was done by Datalink Systems. Are they just a subcontractor? Does Joe care about Datalink?

    Grounding the antennas

Grounding your antennas will not likely improve reception. Nor will a 10 gauge conductor dissipate a lightning strike. The purpose of an antenna or tower ground wire is to bleed off any static charge that may attract a lightning strike in the first place. According to NEC, if you use a...

    My install saga

Well, my installer wasn't a bonehead. I could tell he was experienced and knew what he was doing. It was Friday night and I think he was just in a hurry to get home for supper. As my Grandaddy used to say though "if you don't have time to do it right, how will you ever find the time to do it...

    My install saga

I had Voom installed on Friday. My experience was somewhat less than wonderful. Things went fairly quick as I had a short cable run. After the installer thought he was finished and packed up his stuff I mentioned that I didn't see where the antennas were grounded. He told me that I needed to...
