    Star Trek Discovery

I haven't watch last night's episode yet (we get it here in Canada on the CTV Sci-Fi channel, so it was recorded). First two episodes weren't bad, but did have some logical/consistency/have to suspend belief the unrealistic parts a little too much for my liking. But then, that's Discovery!

Satellite Antenna Made From Umbrella & Emergency Blanket

I had a good laugh when he mentions his cats had chewed on the end of the umbrella, as it reminded me of the time many years ago when I was assembling one of my dishes inside the house and one of my cats tried to run off with a bolt in his mouth!

    Edision SES-2 87.1W reception

11961 (or 11960 according to Lyngsat) is the Newsource transponder feeds with seven channels. 11780 is data only and, according to my AZBox, is DVB-S/QPSK.

    Edision SES-2 87.1W reception

Getting both here in southwestern Ontario, using a 75e dish (Shaw Direct xKu Quad LNB). If you are having trouble locking the satellite, I'd suggest using 11961 H 29997 or 11780 V 4999 (data) to point with as they are two of the strongest TPs I get.

Superbuddy 29 download (anyone know how to correct)

107 (G1) is the only satellite that has any channels from Shaw Direct on it now (111 (F2), was shut down at the end of February). If your Superbuddy shows frequencies (I don't have one, so don't know what they show) they will be in the lower Ku band range (below 11700, see lyngsat.com for the...

Superbuddy 29 download (anyone know how to correct)

Anik F2 (the one that was shut down) was at 111, and Anik G1 is at 107, so what you are seeing seems correct.

    Wayback Machine

Exactly! I have used it to clarify some of my notes I have made on my FTA doings. For example, mentioned a new channel, and didn't mention what satellite it was on, of course, I knew at the time, but not later on! Also interesting to check the old satellites and see all the great channels we...

Why Do I Need SNR for Unlocked TPs?

Just a quick note to say that the Montana PBS signal is back to its normal good level (they fed the gerbil!).

Why Do I Need SNR for Unlocked TPs?

Yes, it was gone all day yesterday, and can't remember whether it was there on Monday or not (I think it was, but not too sure, if may have disappeared in the evening). We had just cloudy weather yesterday, and today have been getting light drizzle/snow in the afternoon, so did notice it was...

Why Do I Need SNR for Unlocked TPs?

I assume most receivers give an indication of when a signal is close to being receivable (sometimes a jumping signal of zero to whatever, or a low signal with a lot of pixelation or just a black screen). I assume that the receiver is getting something from the signal, but not enough for video...

Why Do I Need SNR for Unlocked TPs?

Nice feature! As well, thanks for the confirmation that Montana PBS has a crap signal right now. Haven't been able to get it here for the last two days! Nice to know they haven't stopped broadcasting, just forgot to feed the gerbil running the power! LOL!

    EPG discussion on Enigma2 STB's

Interesting. For me, teleboy.ch times are accurate, and when I view the wedo site, I only get a screen with 2 hours of programming (could be my system/browser, who knows). Glad you found something that works for you!

Cuts and Mergers at Streaming Companies

Don't forget commercials, first a few, then more and more, and all unskippable.

    Damn NFL!

Well, I guess when you already have lost $2.8 billion this year streaming, what's a few more dollars, and annoy people at the same time! Looks like a good future! https://variety.com/2023/streaming/news/peacock-30-million-subscribers-peak-losses-1235820372/

    Damn NFL!

What are you on about? You make no sense. Games that NBC have had the rights to since the 70's have been on their OTA channels (or Traditional Paid Live TV, IF they have been anywhere else other than OTA), until they got into streaming. Your "no law" statement, is immaterial, especially in...

    Damn NFL!

People are mad because the game should have been on NBC on OTA, as it would have been in prior years of "Television Programming", and free (even in the days when Netflix was the only streamer). Has nothing to do with your subsequent comments about cable/satellite charges, and justification for...

    Ota Dvr

Agreed, and most of those that disappeared happened during the switch to digital. Can you imagine the fallout that would happen if they were made to switch to ATSC3? Plus, we don't have any sub-channels (well, a handful, if that, country-wide). It has been bleak times for OTA here for quite a while!

ANIK F2 - Thy End Is Near

G1 went off at about 11.25 am ET, and began to return at around 3.30 pm ET. Has been having "teething" problems (signal there, then fades away, then moments later its back again) since then. SQ strengths are below normal at the moment, and are varying substantially, but look to be more stable...

Need help receiving PBS on 99W with my setup

Personally, I would use the receiver to try and find the signal, and use the blind scan function after every movement. I have never used a sat finder myself. Sometimes the receiver will get a hint of a signal and display the transponder info and from there you can fine tune it after that...

ANIK F2 - Thy End Is Near

Sorry, but I'm not really understanding what you are try to say in relation to its orbit. If you are asking why it is now lingering longer in the north quadrant as opposed to the south, then if you look closely (really zoom in) at the orbit at the n2yo.com site you will see it is almost an...

Need help receiving PBS on 99W with my setup

I recalled our previous discussion about your attempt to get 97, and you had a tree that blocked your view. You could be having the same problem with 99, but give it a try anyhow, it might come in!

Need help receiving PBS on 99W with my setup

I am right near you. I have an 80cm dish, and get both Montana PBS and the PBS mux. It does require almost pinpoint accuracy to get, unlike the the strong mux on 101 (which I can get on a Shaw Direct 60e dish). Just keep moving the dish slowly away from 101, and blind scan after ever move. Good...
